In spite of the exquisite decor and stunning location I was so very underwhemed by my dining experience at Mar y Canela. My crab au gratin, although beautifully garnished was loaded with shell fragments and so incredibly flavorless and shredded that it tasted canned. The very gracious server described the desserts to me and I selected one she called "caramel... More

Wonderful Palafito restaurant serving fish and meat. Ate here last night. Lovely welcome and service. Delicious home made bread/scone. Waitress recommended the Hake Cheek and Roasted River Eel... we had tried neither before. Both dishes were excellent - packed with flavour, lots of fish and good potato dishes on the side. Good beer and wine menu too. Great value for... More

Went for dinner and thought ourselves lucky to find it open. I felt they thought we were lucky to be served. Sitting at the table, we eventually got the menu and an immediate exclamation that we want oysters. (Did we, do we?). We ordered under the 'why not' principle. They were fine, but we soon grew tired of waiting for... More

A typical gourmet cooking menu, just, choose whatever of the options and you'll all and each of this for sure. No more words at this moments, just do it, enjoy a lot this magic moment close to the sea hoping you got a full moon on the sea view. ;)

The food is absolutely great! We had crab au gratin for appetizer, it was delicious! For entrees, lamb and merluza, both cooked and seasoned to perfection. The place is cute and cozy with an ocean view, located in the famous Palafito area. Will definitely recommend this place!

Beautiful looking place and great effort, but a few things to point out. Really need to have a wine list, not point you towards bottles with prices on them. No children's menu. No soft drinks they said, but saw a fridge full on way out. Octopus was chewy. Lamb lacked seasoning. Only cash payment good for them, not me. Phone... More

Its a treat to come across a restaurant located in a popular tourist area who prepares its local cosine with such respect for the local flavors. Mar y Canela is just that. Keeping the design of a typical palafito decorated with local elegance which maintains its cozy home feeling. Our family of four (two children under 9) had the the... More

It is an unexpected high quality reataurant in this small town. A charming environment with a warm service. The menu while limited offers excellent oportunities to try local cuisine. Good wines and desserts. You will have astonishing views of the island over the sea. A place to go and enjoy.

Local chilean cuisine that was delicious and cooked to perfection. This was in a cozy and elegant palafito which made it pretty special experience.

Have reaf the good reviews and thought it would be a nice option for a family dinner on our last day in Castro. We ordered sea urchin for starters, ceviche-style, refreshing. As main dish we had grilled octopus, roasted pork with Chiloé potatoes (which are of many different colours, slightly different each in its own taste and texture!) and steamed... More
