Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food here is amazing whether you like seafood or not. I had a vegan salad bowl whilst my husband had a prawn sandwich. The portions were good and all washed down with very good coffee. The service is friendly and we were able to...take our 2 dogs which is important to us. We sat out on the terrace with lovelyestuary viewsMore

Great seafood. Lots of choices. Beautifully presented. Very friendly staff. Would be our go to place if we were local. Went back later for coffee, just as friendly service. Great location 😃

From the outside this place looks tired and in need of some renovation, nevertheless, my husband wanted a fish lunch so we went inside. We were given a menu, and told to check the board for prices which was confusing in itself as the options...on the board appeared different. Given it is called a 'cafe' we hoped there would be some kids non-fish options on the menu (fussy children) but there weren't. We therefore went elsewhere and grabbed some lunch for the children but they didn't have time to eat it outside as we were told the restaurant would be taking last orders in 20 mins (even though this was at 2.30 and the closing time was 4pm on the door). We therefore rushed back to the restaurant and found a table outside. We ordered two rolls at £26 and a short while later, an assistant came out to tell us we would have to cancel our order as they can't allow food from elsewhere on the premises. I politely explained what had happened and that we had ordered food anyway, but she couldn't get rid of us quick enough and cancelled our order. It seemed she wanted to finish her shift pronto, making sure staff knew it was last orders. When getting our money back she then said they had taken the payment twice so we needed £50+ refunding! How many other customers do they 'accidentally' take two payments from?!! I would never go back here and would never recommend this place.More

What a find! We were just looking for a car park near the High Street and found this, adjacent. The fishmonger part of the business had some great stock and the restaurant couldn’t have had a better view out the window on a sunny day....Superb fish chowder.. we know where to go for an afternoon munch now, can’t wait to return to Cardigan, a great place, thriving but still with quaintness, and a good vibe. Love it!More

One of the best fish meals we've ever had. We shared lobster and a sea- medley, everything was superb. Great salad accompaniment. If I lived here I would visit regularly. Lovely staff too.

Pleasant surprise awaits, the walk up is unprepossessing, but checking the menus How's promise, inside the welcome is warm and the choices limited to fresh ingredients. The fish platter and lobster salad were eaten small bites at a time, to savour it all. The bill...was reasonable and the setting relaxing on the deck.More

If you like fresh seafood, either to eat in or take away to cook yourself, this is the plaice(!) for you. We had lunch with smoked salmon, prawns & fresh crab. Good portion sizes and reasonably priced for the quality. Sit inside or out, overlooking...the estuary. We then bought fresh lobster to take away - so good we returned a couple of day later for another. Well worth supporting this great local business.More

Great tasting lunch, food was delicious. Fishmonger was very friendly and great with the kids. Service was a bit disappointing- no one checked if our food was okay or acknowledged us to say goodbye. We had the seafood platter, cheese platter, chowders and a 1/2...lobster. All of the food was very tasty although I felt all meals were served with far too little bread. One small slice with most things, an additional 4 small crackers with the cheese platter. Much more bread was needed- I ordered and paid for extra bread £1.50 and was given two slices cut up which was still not enough… an extra 1/3 a slice per person was still quite insufficient. Would have liked more bread- the quantity of fish or cheese on the platters doesn’t really correlate with the quantity (or lack) of bread which was a shame. These should probably be renamed as salads rather than platters. The chowder I would suggest is more of a starter than a main course- it’s quite a watery stock based one rather than a heavier creamy type. We all ended up needing to go to Greggs after as everyone was still very hungry. That being said, the fish tasted amazing.More
