We ended up here by accident one Friday evening. We had intended to visit another pub for dinner but couldn't get in their car park so this was not too far away and we were hungry. Having walked in the door we nearly left straight...More

We lunched four times over a period of one week on holiday there. That ought to tell you what we think of the location, the personnel, the chef/food. E both enjoyed immensely their "Superfood Salad" - crisp leaves, olives, coriander, orange, quinoah, pomegranate, excellent haloumi, understated...More

Having eaten here for the last six years, things have definitely changed for the worse...the menu barely alters and the service has gradually gone significantly downhill. We visited last week and had a horrific experience. We visited with friends and waited, and waited for drinks...More

There wasn't very much on the menu that I really wanted to eat. I don't usually have a starter but this is probably a mistake at this venue because the main course portions were quite small. I had the special calfs liver and bacon which...More

We were meeting up with some old friends and chose The Gun as the venue. We had not been there for years but were really pleased with our choice. The people were really friendly despite there being quite a lot of customers for a midweek...More

The setting for the restaurant is beautiful right out in the country. The menu is quite extensive with a good choice of food available. The food is very good and service is excellent. Would visit again

We were recommended to The Gun by our host at Pelham Hall in Burwash. We wanted a special meal to mark our 44th wedding anniversary. The Gun was perfect. Set in the middle of nowhere this beautiful restaurant/pub provided us with a sophisticated meal of...More

Have been a fair bit over the years and it has always been of a good standard. However on the latest visit we thought it had gone backwards with the food somewhat uninspiring. I had the beef medallions, which was a special and for £22...More

Amazing pizza, amazing food, consistently high quality and exceptional for a place that's this busy. Impressed with the staff, attentive and personable. This is one of my favourite pubs in Sussex!

I believe this is a French orientated venue (not Italian) and is part of the ELITE chain not independent family!!

Description
When walking on the Wealden Way we recommend taking the time to discover The Gun, an atmospheric pub-restaurant on the outskirts of Heathfield, East Sussex. This fifteenth century pub is full of period charm and countryside comfort, the interior carefully decorated to create light and space, bringing a touch of the modern to ancient bare bricks, wood panelling and stripped back flooring with simple, elegant but robust furnishings. An extensive landscaped garden is perfect for families, providing play equipment for children while maintaining the peace and quiet of a true country retreat. At The Guns bar, youll find all manner of well kept real ales as well as a wide selection of quality wines, while the food menu is celebrated locally for its great pies, seasonal game dishes and continental specialties, all created using locally sourced, fresh produce. Whether a snowy winters day or a hot summer evening, The Gun has a perfect atmosphere to suit, indoors or out, for dinner or just a few drinks and a bite to eat.
