Arrived to the beautiful Norfolk Mead Hotel, warmly greeted and as expected in current climate seated outside, blankets were provided due to the cold weather, parasols kept us dry during short showers. A little more overhead covering and patio heating would have been welcome. Be...aware only sandwiches/sausage roll/ cakes scones available (afternoon tea) no other light lunches such as soup were available so a little disappointing for us. A clearer statement of food available on website would have prevented the disappointment.More

We have just received an amazing afternoon tea. I was surprised how the sandwiches were kept so fresh and scones were perfect. Friendly gentleman delivered my daughter’s birthday surprise in the snow. Service with a smile. She was quick to photograph all the packages of...delights in the box! Exceptional quality as always; we are fans of Norfolk Mead and look forward to returning as soon as possible!More

First time we have eaten here and Wow we will be back. Everything was perfect from start time finish. Staff warm and welcoming, the place itself cosy with a touch of class. The Sunday lunch was the best we have eaten anywhere. Meat was cooked...to perfection, flavoursome vegetables and crisp yet soft roast potatoes. Followed by a dessert which was like a piece of heaven on a plate. What a lovely treat for a winters afternoon.More

A lovely idea to deliver to the doorstep! An excellent freshly prepared Afternoon Tea with all the trimmings! A delicious combination and variety of flavours. It brought some much needed cheer. Thoroughly recommended!

We had a lovely break. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel was very COVID secure. Amazing food and the room was really comfy. Will definitely come back.

In spite of being only a 20 minute drive from this characterful country house hotel our last visit was about 20 years ago. We will not leave it too long till we visit again. The dining room is light and airy with views over the...extensive grounds, and all necessary social distancing was well observed, from NHS app check in to single use menus etc. We were very impressed by the young and upbeat staff, combining friendliness and professionalism perfectly. We’re not great “food warriors”, but it was nice to try Black Shuck gin, a dog’s name familiar to anyone in Norfolk - though hopefully not encountered on a misty coastal road ! The food was exceptional- starters and desserts combined at least six elements each with great contrasts of flavour and texture. My pigeon breast was very tender and my wife’s prawn and crayfish stack reinvented the “prawn cocktail “, a mass of prawns and crayfish with a minimal amount of dressing to hold it together! And the main courses were everything you expect from a traditional Sunday lunch, a “mound” of delicious vegetables, gravy and perfectly tender meat. We enjoy our food, but the quantities were so generous we doggy bagged a portion which on our return home passed the “Labrador” test - hope the chef doesn’t mind. Would happily rate this meal 5+More

The Norfolk Mead is a lovely venue, no question. Today’s visit was good, apart from one officious waitress. A lecture (about protecting the table) was delivered at a volume sufficient for guests in the next room to hear. Thankfully none of our party was of...a nervous disposition. Other member of staff, well he was great - nothing too much trouble. Sadly, the waitress was reception as we settled up - wrongly in her view - and again, loudly. Had we not known we were right, her tone could have made us all feel quite embarrassed. Maybe some training is required.More

Me and my partner had the best food and service we have ever had. We were spoiled with complementary tasters before our food arrived, which were all fantastic. Our food contained flavours and textures we'd never experienced before and we were absolutely blown away by...how incredible it was. I had always had the misconception that it was very expensive here but around £36 for a 3 course meal is fantastic value especially considering the high standard. The Service we received was on a par with the fantastic food and a massive reason for us looking to return in the near future. Overall a brilliant evening and a must for all to experience.More

We had to park in the overflow car park so I knew it was going to be busy and so it proved to be. When we arrived at reception they only had us down as a party of 2 rather than 3 which I'd booked,...so they had to relay the table, which took a while as they were so busy. We choose our tea blend and the afternoon tea arrived quickly. The sandwiches were filed with quality ingredients as you’d expect here, they were fresh and tasty. The scones and miniature cakes were home made.More

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. We stayed in September, masks needed when moving around the hotel. The breakfast was well cooked with a good choice. We ate in the restaurant and the food was well presented and very enjoyable. The grounds are pleasant to...walk round. We hired the boat for the afternoon and it was a great, peaceful trip. 2 of us had facials in the spa and they were the best I had ever had. Lovely rooms really comfortable couches and superb therapists. Would love to return.More

Hi, it is now 5 weeks since we were at the Norfolk Mead Hotel and I'm afraid I cannot remember the menu. I suspect that the menu may have changed to reflect what is available. There were about 6 or 7 choices for each course... More
