My husband treated me to a Saturday night stay in the Tatham suite DB&B. Usually it can only be booked for 2 nights on a weekend but the room was booked both sides of the one night so my husband rang and enquired - worth checking availability at short notice if you are only looking for one night on a... We managed to secure a last-minute booking (less than 24-hours notice) in the restaurant, which was quite unusual as Hipping Hall is usually fully booked. We opted for the taster menu; each course was brought to us by very attentive staff, who took time time to explain what each dish comprised of. The food was excellent - good quality ingredients,... My husband and I received a gift of a red letter day as a present from a relative. I have been to many afternoon teas in many places. So as it was bank holiday weekend we decided to go to the lakes Sunday morning stay over some where in Kirkby Lonsdale. Which we did we stayed at the Pheasant hotel... More

Hi Chadd251948, I'm disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your afternoon tea with us. We undertake to do things a little differently at Hipping and offer our guests a unique experience. We serve a very informal afternoon tea, the idea being guests feel they can relax and enjoy themselves without having to stand on ceremony. The one thing we... More

Decided to pop along one night for our date night. On a wednesday. Been to all the other places around Kirkby Lonsdale. The service was the best i have ever experienced. Food wise great. Not so keen on the cocktails unfortunately. Overall great but only for a special occasion as others are just as good at a cheaper cost. (although... More

Myself and two friends visited Hipping Hall on Wed 17th Aug for Afternoon Tea. From the moment we arrived we were made most welcome. The weather was perfect so we chose to sit outside in the garden. The staff were excellent the whole afternoon, they provided cushions for our chairs to make us more comfortable. The food we received for... More

We have just come back from an amazing afternoon tea at Hipping Hall. We sat outside the orangery in a lovely courtyard in the sunshine. They were more than happy (with advance notice) to provide one vegan and one vegetarian afternoon tea. Both were delicious and extremely creative - better than any exclusively vegetarian place I have ever been to.... More

We have eaten here several times but our last two visits, about six months apart, have been disappointing. The set lunch now offers three choices for each course and we found many of the choices unappealing. Happily our choice of starter of Pork Cheek was a winner for us and although our main fish dish of Hake was well cooked... More

We have always loved the restaurant at Hipping Hall but the food on our most recent visit was the best ever. We were choosing from the A La Carte menu rather than the tasting menu and every course was a delight. We always have to ask the charming staff to explain the courses as the menu only names three ingredients... More

Hi Marmalade1954, Thank you for your review of Hipping Hall. We're so glad you enjoyed your meal at Hipping and thought that the staff were friendly and provided great service. We're really proud of our team so it's great to here they were on form. However, I'm not surprised that being charged £21 for a gin and tonic has taken... More
