My favourite restaurant. Always excellent food and service. Great specials in every day. The wines are delicious. It’s such a lovely cosy restaurant. I’ve been going here years and have yet to have a meal that isn’t 5 stars.

I wish to preface this review by saying that I'm generally in no way a person who complains about food or service but i find myself compelled to write this review I purchased 3 different types of gluten free pasta at this restaurant this evening...and was very disappointed. I found this very strange as word of mouth in relation to the restaurant is generally positive.  Firstly the pasta was very undercooked, not "al dente" but literally undercooked. As my partner's a coeliac I understand the cooking times of gluten free pasta (corn or rice flour) and know that it shouldn't be that undercooked.  Upon collecting the order I was told that the carbonara was done "Irish style". I didn't think much of it until I opened the container. What I received was half a container of water, some pasta, congealed cheese and scrambled egg. Please see attached picture for reference.   Thirdly I was charged €25.50 which was more than the (€7.50 X 3 = €22.50) I expected as advertised on the menu. I don't know if there's a surcharge on gluten free pasta or if there's a service charge. I really don't mind this if there's is but I definitely wasn't told this in advance. Maybe it was an off day or there's a difficulty with cooking gluten-free pasta however if that's the case it shouldn't be an option.More

First of all I'm Italian. I do know what I'm talking about here Do not take their pizza. I tried their one twice as take-away. The 1st time I got some fish something pizza instead of a Napoletano (anchovies, mozzarella cheese and capers). I was...half decent. The second time I've got a margherita (tomato and mozzarella cheese) instead of a Napoletana. 1. the mozzarella was cheddar 2. it was not proved at all . I spend the night drinking water 3. it was not what I paid for 4 . I could not digest it. 5 some other people with me was not sure about the ingredients freshness. As we all had some digestion trouble. We also had some "focaccia". undercooked .... now in italian. evitate la pizza. non è livitata usa il cheddar al posto della mozzarella la lievitazione non viene fatta. Ho lavorato in pizzeria , se la pizza ti fa passare la notte a bere, non l han fatta livitare. due volte su due han canato l ordine.More

From start to finish our entire experience here was awful. Both the service and the food really let this place down. They brought bread to the table while waiting on our food and when we asked for butter they said they had none. What kind...of restaurant doesn’t have butter? When the waitress came to take our order she proceed to tell us the specials instead of telling us when she gave us the menus. Then she couldn’t remember what the specials were. I ordered the pear and walnut salad for starter and when it arrived they had just chucked in a load of apple as they obviously had no pear. We were waiting ages between courses and empty tables were not cleared away for a long time after guests had left. My main course was supposed to be a prawn pasta in a tomato sauce. It arrived as black spaghetti with 6 frozen prawns and no sauce. The chips were frozen chips and were served covered in sauce. Overall we felt the menu had very poor offerings and we will not be returning.More

Got takeaway from Cavallinos last weekend. Food was excellent. Had a cannelloni and a carbonara plus a garlic bread. There was quite a wait as the restaurant and takeaway were both very busy but it was well worth it. The food is very authentic Italian...with good quality ingredients and talking to another customer the wine selection is good too. Well worth a visit.More

Had dinner on Saturday evening. Very friendly staff and the owner / chef joined us and other customers for a chat at the end of the evening. The food was fresh, tasty and wonderfully presented. When we couldn't decide on the dessert the chef solved...the problem by giving us a small portion of each ! The house wine was an excellent choice. Great prices as well and we really felt we got value for our money. Keep up the great work.More

My boyfriend and I had dinner here on a Thursday evening. We were very happy with our experience. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the waiter was very nice. We both ordered pizza - which we really enjoyed. Ingredients were fresh, base was thin and...it was cooked perfectly. Will happily go back!More
