Mixed bag this visit. Chicken satay starter was disappointing. In fairness it tasted good but amount of chicken was really tiny. Steak sandwich & chips were good. Wasn't crazy about the prawn linguine. Tasted much too citrusy for me. Atmosphere good as usual, staff grand....Miss the caesar & black pudding salad as starters .More

Visiting from Australia this pub looked great from the outside, with lots of flags and lights, and was busy, so I thought....a great little pub, so stopped in for a drink and a meal. It was obvious I was a woman on my own, so...I sat at one of the tables and watched the waitresses one by one walk by, served the 2 men next to me who had sat down AFTER I did. I waited and watched, and waited and waited....15 minutes went by and I was totally ignored, so I stood up and walked out, telling the young waitress sweeping the floor in the front area to tell the manager that his bar 'sucks and why. I went down the road where I got served straight away.More

Had a good experience here last time I was here. However I was very disappointed this time round with the service and the general lack of attention by the staff that were on. We also weren't allowed to split the bill between all of us...at the end of the meal which would have been great to know before we had sat down and ordered. This experience definitely puts me off coming here again.More

Starting coming to the Central when we first moved to Navan three years ago, came back time and time again for great service and tasty quality food. Have remarked over the past few occasions that standards have definitely slipped. Tonight was unfortunately a complete disaster...- started with a warm welcome and ordering went well. Then the chaos started - we watched our order land at a neighbouring table twice before we could get attention of staff. Starters were enjoyable but portions of some dishes have gotten very small e.g. black pudding bon bon (singular!). Main courses disappeared until someone eventually came to check had they been received and then clarified there was ongoing mix up. Three orders of seabass, one had to be sent back because it was undercooked ( possibly first time we have ever sent a dish back!!!), Likely cooked in haste to make up for confusion. My portion of Asian greens looked like a microwave pack of rice with a few green beans that came in a portion size that might have been better suited to a children's menu. Very very disappointing particularly as prices are not justified (whereas we used to think their early bird menu in particular was always great value!) Skipped dessert altogether and asked for bill and ended up having to go to bar as didn't arrive. Sadly won't be going back in a hurry, to a place that once was our go- to as an impressive spot for any family or friends we had visiting.More

Disappointing meal in The Central this evening. This was our 3rd visit and it didn't compare to previous visits sadly. Kids had pizza and carbonara. They were ok, apart from carbonara reheated in microwave with a lob of butter. But you get that a lot...elsewhere. First warning I guess was when a 0.0 Guinness was served flat and 3 or 4 degs warmer than it should be. Our food landed out 10mins after ordering. Great for some, but not if you are looking for a little quality for your money. I ordered chicken supreme and there was more plate than food served. With a few greens in a cup (which were cooked well). Chicken was plastered in sauce, which may cover up the dry bland reheat, on two spoons of mash. I was hungry so carried on. My wife had fish and chips. Chips were cooked about two hrs previous. They changed the chips but fish was no better. In fact there are take aways not far from their door, which serve twice the quality fish n chips. And I'm not lying. I genuinely can't remember the last time I left a restaurant feeling so hard done by. Spoke to a manager about issues, she took some notes, but we left feeling she didn't seem to believe me or simply didn't care. Never before have we gone from a restaurant meal to McDonald's. I get it that there are big numbers on a Sunday and I get it that sometimes things go wrong and you can't please everyone all the time, but having spent money, to then needing to spend more. There is something very wrong with that!! I will mention I dropped something on my way out and a young member of staff did pick it up and got it to me before we'd left. So thank you for that! We try to eat out most weekends, but I don't go giving out just for the sake of it. There are hundreds of restaurants doing a good job in difficult times and we tend to return to them. But now and again you come across one that could do better. I'm sure it's true our experience today was not the same for all, but if you don't say something, things tend to repeat, I find and that will affect us all.More

Good food, beautifully presented, great staff - efficient, courteous and attentive. Our party of four were delighted with our visit. We even enquired about the play list, it was so appropriate. Lovely ambiance. This restaurant would be hard to beat. Our first visit on 19th...February, 2023 will not be our last. Well done everybody in The Central.More

Myself and friends had a nice meal and drinks in The Central just before Christmas. We were really well looked after from start to finish, the food was really good. Our group had burgers, pizza and chicken dishes to pick a few and everyone was...well satisfied. The beer was good, the ambience great, service was quick and efficient, a good night out all round.More

The portion sizes are tiny. I had a satay skewered chicken for starter and there was a tiny amount of chicken on it. My brother had black pudding and it too was tiny. Main course for me was a standard pizza. Was nice enough. Dessert...was bizarre. A ginger cheesecake. Strange flavours. Others in the group thought their food was tasty but the portion control was bizarreMore

The Central Bar was recommended to us by the owner of the B&B we were staying. Our meals and cocktails were spot on! I loved the duck pizza and my husband had the smoked venison salad that he is still talking about. The service was...great and the pacing of our meal was perfect, we did not feel rushed on a busy Saturday night Highly recommend.More

Went to the Central & ordered food in the vintage lounge.sat for 10 mins & had to walk up to the bar to ask for menus as no staff came near us. Lounge was not busy! Ordered food & drinks.. starter arrived, eaten & still...no sign of drinks.. Again had to ask a staff member for drinks..Main courses came & then finally drinks. Had to ask for salt & pepper & that’s literally all that came, then had to ask again for vinegar, took 5 five mins to get the tiniest bottle of vinegar… If the place was busy I would have made allowances but definitely the worst service I have encountered pre covid..will definitely not be going back.More
