My wife and I were looking for somwhere to eat in Maynooth and rambled into The Roost. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were immediately seated and menus offered to us. We were very impressed with the choices of specials available. I chose...the Fish Pie with fresh vegetables and my wife had roast Turkey and Ham with mash and fresh vegetables. The food arrived in reasonable time and was piping hot and really delicious. The only minor niggle was the Broccoli was a bit undercooked for us but it is a minor point as the remaining veggies were delicious! I can heartily recommend The Roost if you are seeking great food, excellent friendly service and great value. We shall be back very soon!More
Avoid for food. Family of 5 went for a nice lunch on Saturday afternoon. Service was incredibly slow and food was poor. I got 15 desiccated chicken wings and about 15 chips as a main course. Spag bol looked good but cheap mince was used....All portion sizes are small with big price tags. Anytime we asked for something else (sauce, more water etc) they took ages to arrive. The atmosphere in the pub was nice and looked lovely for a quiet afternoon pint but I will not be going back for food.More
Witnessed a member of staff (upstairs gin bar) use disgraceful language and give the finger to a customer, all because he innocently moved something on the bar out of his way. Couldn't believe it! Hearing a lot of negative reviews re staff lately. Management need...to get their finger out.More
Called into the Roost to have lunch with a friend. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to a table. The server was very efficient, polite and promptly took our food/drink order. My Friend had a chicken dish from the "Specials" menu and...really enjoyed her meal. I had spaghetti and meatballs (again from the "Specials menu) and they were absolutely gorgeous. The portion size was plentiful and the presentation of both meals was good. It was an enjoyable afternoon experience.More
Got aggressively pushed out of the way by a member of staff and while she was passing she turned around to give me the middle finger. The man with grey hair who seems to be the manager did not seem to care when I came...to him to tell him about the incident. Don’t know who she is but she should not be allowed to work in hospitality with this attitude, clearly not trained correctly as if I was in her way she could of politely tapped me on the shoulder and said excuse me, I hope she learns some manners.More

Chris met us at door took our details (covid aware)
Showed us to our table and chatted along the way, menu has something for everyone. We gave our orders and had look around. This place is huge inside lots of seating and spotless clean, staff...are friendly and very helpful, now the most important part “the food” I got the beer battered fish with chips and side salad and I have to say I haven’t tasted fish this good in years, cooked to perfection and the batter was so light and tasty it was delicious, very generous amount of chips with mushy peas and refreshing side salad. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal. Thanks very much to the staff for most enjoyable lunch
And of course Chris for service with a smile 😃More
During a stay at the Glenroyal we ate here. After 2 days in Dublin the prices here were a welcome return to reasonable levels. The food was hot (something other restaurants seem to overlook!) and were generous portions. The best meal and best value meal...we had on our trip.
We were served by a lovely lady with bobbed dark hair - she was delighful.
Excellent Covid precautions.More
