Food was middle of the road but service wasn’t great
We had barely finished our starters and one waiter whipped the plates away while another put down our mains. We had no time to digest starter and as a result couldn’t enjoy the main.
Another Waiter did apologise but that was it, both of us only ate half our mains as a result and had no interest in desert.
We were there on a sat night, so not an early bird and not told the table was needed back but we felt very rushed.
The food itself was ok, the fish cake starter wasn’t great more of a potato cake with a hint of fish. My wife got the mussels and enjoyed them.
For mains we both got the chicken risotto which was nice but we couldn’t enjoy our mains as mentioned above.

Myself and my family attended avenue a few days ago and I have to say from the first point of contact they did not disappoint, I organised via email and phone through both Ciara and Robert and from the word go I never heard "no" they accommodated me and my family and had helpful suggestions if there was something not available.
We arrived on a very busy sunday evening and went straight through to the bar where we had a drink while waiting on our party to arrive, the barman was excellent and impressive to watch and listen to on his knowledge of cocktails. Cocktails are a must have and as we all love gin their wide range of selection was impressive.
Everyone had an amazing meal, we all tried the famous chicken wings and it did not disappoint we were all licking our fingers for that last taste.
Mains I had the vegetarian burger and it just melted in my mouth and was seasoned beautifully, nicely cut and the flavours were outstanding. The lovely manager Luisa was so efficient in checking on us and making sure we had everything and were topped up with wine infact the whole team from kitchen to floor were incredible and a credit to the avenue.
All in all the experience was amazing from start to finish, I would highly recomend a visit to avenue we already have our next family event booked in in March for confirmation and we cant wait.
Keep it up.

Dined here last weekend with 2 friends, from start to finish we had a great experience, we were very impressed with the procedures they have in place, staff wearing masks, place felt very comfortable and a great atmosphere at the same time. Our food was the best, starters we had wings, duck& goats cheese, all as good as the other, then we had a of sirloin steak cooked perfect, sole on the bone was delicious& of coarse we had to order one of their amazing burgers, no room for dessert but we enjoyed delicious expresso martinis& the best strawberry daiquiri I ever had. Keep up the great work, can’t wait to come back on Saturday night with my husband.

We ate here during the week and had such a bad experience. The staff were so disorganised, we waited to be seated for about 10 minutes even though we had pre booked, we were sent to one table then another employee came along and said we can’t be there and we were moved around again and finally given menus when we sat at the 3rd table. The woman who appeared to be a manager was quite strange and abrupt. Food is absolutely outrageously expensive - you wouldn’t pay prices like it in dublin. €21 for a bleak Caesar salad and chips. €26 for a microwaved risotto. My risotto was bland and gooey and flavourless. The food was just way too expensive and was such a disappointment. My coffee afterwards was so bitter. Absolute 2/10 for this experience. What’s more was 2 out of 3 of us had bad stomachs after the meal, I now seem to have a stomach virus still feeling sick 2 days later. Will never be dining here again.

I have eaten here several times but last night was the worst experience I have had there. Three of us had a booking for 8pm..We were taken upstairs to an overcrowded loud eating area where we had 2 tables pushed together..one rickety and ended up having to stuff a napkin under the leg. My starter which was advertised a goats cheese tartlet was a lump of goats cheese on top of a burned piece of pastry. The burger arrived out with hardly any pepper sauce, was overcooked and the crispy onions were greasy..disgusting. worst of all was the filthy women's toilets. Obviously hadn't been serviced for hours..no toilet paper in the cubicle..used papers thrown all around a wet ground..gross!! We expressed our dissatisfaction to a waitress and told her to feed it up to her boss..who was around but did not come near us. She explained they had an extremely busy day...not good enough Avenue...pull up your socks...you need to look after your customers.

Last minute decision to book here for lunch. Had a bad experience a couple of years ago but am disappointed i didn’t give it another chance, lunch today was top class. From the great food to the amazing service everything was faultless. My wife requested an oat latte & the waitress explained they had no oat milk but would be happy to go to the shop to get some. The music was great too, great lunch & can’t wait to return rreturnitdidn’gdidngive

Booked table on website and requested "Warm and Cozy" when we arrived we were offered 3 different options for warm and cozy - brilliant!
The lady who met us even brought us to see them - wonderful service, I am so sorry I did not get her name.
We saw the Chicken Wings that others have mentioned and they looked fantastic however we all had something from the burger menu which looked so good.
Fries/chips were excellent!!!
The chilli burger did not have jalapeños as described and my Cashel Blue cheese burger did not come with a toasted bun however they were both very good.
The buttermilk chicken burger was also very good.
The house rosé was very good, the water on the table was excellent.
The profiteroles were delicious.
Coffee also very good.
Service was excellent, everyone was so friendly.
Atmosphere was lovely and relaxing.
Will definitely be back. I will have the Chicken Wings next time.
We were all very happy and can highly recommend the Avenue.

The takeaway service was very good. The food is finished and packed after the customer arrives so that time in containers is minimised. It’s a more expensive takeaway but nice as a treat every so often! Their burgers are the best burgers in Maynooth.

You better be hungry and have a big appetite for this place, food was very tasty, and I love tasty food!, portions are big though, weather its a starter or main. No space for dessert. So the food is very tasty and all is good, But, yes, BUT, the wine is way over priced, Avenue! No couple wants to pay €33 for a bottle of wine, I'm personally happy to pay €20-€25 for a good bottle of wine on a normal night out with a meal, so more selection at that price range would be the cherry on top

This was a last minute booking, looking for lunch. Turned out to be a surprisingly brilliant choice. The place is bright, airy and spacious upstairs with a lovely atmosphere. There were large parties, smaller with children and all in between, all well catered for. The staff were extremely attentive- something both myself and friend commented on. The food was served very quickly with extremely large portions and really tasted gorgeous. The presentation as well is something to admire. We were skeptical first with some of the main course prices but it's value for money considering the amount you get. A warning though to pick either a main by itself or a starter and dessert because you won't be able for a full three courses! Although I had the butter chicken burger, I saw the most amazing looking wings and other plates go by. Lovely selection of drinks too and although the cocktails were underwhelming, this is a restaurant and not a cocktail bar, so it's to be expected. I did notice a lovely selection of spirits and wines though, noting that they were done by country and their was a lovely large selection of Irish ones, which is always nice to see being supported.
Overall everything was lovely and great value for money with a lovely family friendly atmosphere. Downstairs looked a little cramped though so I'm not sure if a buggy or wheelchair user would have an easy time here - maybe something to call ahead and ask.

We have been looking so forward to going to this restaurant for so long.. And from the moment we arrived a disaster staff not a bit friendly, and some of them going around with there masks under their nose while serving & clearing tables.. Ordered drinks and they came back with the wrong drinks, wrong food been brought to tables. Took them 15 mins to clear our table when we finished our dinner, then the waiter ask would we like to see the dessert menu, 20 minutes later still no dessert menu so we just asked for the bill and left.

Avenue has a good reputation in the area and we decided to have a family dinner there. With no availability of the early bird time slots, we had no option but to go for the A la carte.
The restaurant was very busy and at times, too noisy but the food was lovely and the service was great.
With his starter of chicken wings, my husband asked for an extra stick of celery. Two of his five-a-day )))
Between us we had warm breads, chicken wings, bruschetta for starters and sea bass, steak, burger and a pasta dish for mains. We also had a few cocktails and wine. Everything was faultless, compliments to the chef, his team and bar staff.
Our bill came to 268 euros, and among the items on it there sat an extra stick of celery at 50 cent. To say I was shocked, is to say nothing. I actually had to leave the restaurant and wait outside while my husband handled the matter. He queried the relevance and necessity of charging us for an extra stick of celery seeing that our bill was quite hefty. Our waitress went to consult with the manager and came back to advise him that the manager had refused to take the celery stick off the bill.
It would have been funny if it weren’t so ridiculous.
It is a terrible pity, not just for us, but for the restaurant also, that they managed to ruin a what would have been a lovely, albeit expensive, family dinner out. Small things matter, and they often make a huge difference. And because of a small thing, Avenue failed miserably in our eyes. We will never return to a restaurant where the management had the audacity of charging for an extra stick of celery when a party of four spent close to €300.
Talking about shooting yourself in the foot….

We have been going to Avenue for her past 5 years and would always get a good meal there however on Thursday night we both were served raw fish in a bowl of water. Totally shocking that that even the waitress didn't even notice there was something wrong with it. I wouldn't normally leave a review even after this horrendous experience and would put it done to the restaurant having a bad night however I dont think that was the case

Our return to Avenue Rest after about 3 years delighted and pleasantly surprised us, with the wonderful food and service on one very wet Sunday evening recently. We got a lovely warm welcome, brought to our table upstairs. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The menus were extensive, with lots of great choices. The food was superb, very well presented, great taste and flavours and really generous portions. If I might say, nearly too generous! We had starters and main courses, which definitely left no room for desserts. The Buttermilk Chicken was particularly good, lamb shanks were excellent and the Salmon was really full of flavour. The food and drinks it came in at great Value for 4 people at €145. Definitely a place to go and we will be back again soon. Thank you so much to the Kitchen and Diningroom Teams, well done, all very professional, you made our evening a memorable one, especially in these challanging times for the Hospitality Industry. We appreciate the great work you do.

Having only called late on Friday evening for a table for 2 the next day they fit us in and as usual the food was just delicious !!! , service 1st class and staff very attentive. We were surprised with a glass of bubbly due to a passing remark I made when booking so this is another level of service altogether. A very pleasant evening for us both to be repeated very soon.
