I wanted to make a post to showcase the absolutely phenomenal service we've gotten from McMahon's Bar & Lounge over the weekend. My partner and I were trying to find something local to send to my parents for their anniversary, even though we live in Edinburgh currently.
Louis, from McMahons, messaged us personally letting us know of a package deal they can do for us, which they've done with being closed for sit in for so long. It was all arranged over message, and Louis went above and beyond to exceed any expectations we had. Two starters, two mains, a trio of desserts, and wine all included at a really affordable rate per person. Louis hand delivered the meal, and even offered to travel back and forth between starter and main to keep everything fresh!
The menu offered was fab, the food was amazing, and the portion sizes were huge and filling. They also arrived with anniversary balloons and a complimentary box of chocolates, and as I said, every single expectation was exceeded tenfold. Please keep them in mind for any future ideas! The service from Louis and the entire team at McMahons, including the management and chefs for an amazing gift. I am honestly blown away!

Just finished lunch here and it was delicious. I had the fish and chips, and my daughter had the pasta dish. The batter on the fish was lovely, light and crispy and the pasta was full of flavor...scrumptious altogether. Lovely attentive waitress As well. Will definitely be coming back👍

Visit this place for a very first time with all Family. The food was very well presented,so tasty and was served in a nice hot plates which is a big advantage in this cold days. Have to mention our server Ian who was very fast and efficient. The place was very busy in this time,but this Man did a service and a tricks which really impress our kids and all of Us.We spent absolutely great time. Highly recommend this place for all of the People visiting Maynooth. We definitely will be back as the atmosphere here is truly amazing....

Had been recommend this place by quite a few people but found it nothing to write home about . The staff where very friendly in fairness but a young girl had to go and consult the chef about getting half portions of dinner for kids which shows she was not trained properly. The food was fine but you expect at least a roast potato or a Yorkshire pudding with your Sunday roast if your eating out , just to jazz it up a bit but no nice trimmings . The veg was the usual commercial packed veg they buy in and steam with no real flavour .
All in all friendly welcoming floor staff but food needs to up its game before we would return .

Very disappointed!!! Rang to order some food this evening, and the person on the phone told us the kitchen will be closed soon so we cannot order anymore. Then, few mins after he rang us back saying that we can actually get some food. The food was horrible! We ordered two soups which came with not even one slice of bread. Steak sandwich had no taste at all, came with just a bun, steak and mushrooms on the side (we requested the mushrooms in this way). No onions, or some rocket??? Would not recommend this place.

We acknowledge your review and wholeheartedly regret you found our food so unsatisfyingly
As you quite rightly alluded to our kitchen was in fact closed for the night, by chance the chef happened to be still on site.
He kindly went out of his way to facilitate your order hence the return phone call.
We apologise your soup was not served with bread the staff responsible for doing the last check on takeaway food had left for the night.
Normally a steak sandwich comes with a combination of onions and mushrooms on top in your case the order was taken down as just mushrooms (on the side).
The steak sandwich is our best seller it does not come with rocket but to respectfully suggest it was horrible is at odds with the vast majority of other reviews we have on TA in addition to the large volume sold on a daily basis.
The steak sandwich is our best seller with our meat sourced locally and always cooked to order.
I find a one star review because your soup had no bread and your steak had no onions to be quite disportioncate to the unintentional errors experienced on the night. Please once again accept our sincere apologies for any upset caused to you

We dropped in to McMahon's for dinner recently. The food, service, value and Covid-19 precautions were okay. My girlfriend had a vegetarian dish for her main course which she said was 'nice'. I had Bacon and Cabbage which would probably have been nice as well, had it not been served cold. We were in a rush, so I decided not to complain.

Great pub with excellent food at a reasonable price. We had dinner in McMahon's Bar on Saturday last and I can say it was one of the best experiences I've had in quite a while. The food was delicious (we all had different meals and each one was lovely) and a big thank you to Ian who is an example to all in the service industry of how to make people feel good about their experience. Thank you!

We had a great time in McMahon's. We made a late notice reservation for 11 people, including 3 children. Everything was great from the time we arrived until the time we left. The children's table had colouring pages and crayons already on the table to amuse the children and the staff thought to ask if we wanted the children's meals at the same time as the adult's starters. Our server was very funny and lifted everyone's spirits. We are only sorry we didn't catch his name. He and Sally took great care of us and we will definitely go back. It was also very impressive how he memorised all of our orders and didn't miss anything.

I was here on Monday, the first day of indoor dining. Staff diligently checked Covid certificates which was reassuring. We were seated in the sophisticated lounge. Our waiter Aoife, couldn't have been more accommodating with our orders and checked in regularly.
Food was delicious, I had the Caesar salad and my companion ordered a medium rare steak which was cooked to perfection!
Service throughout was efficient and discreet. Excellent value for money considering the quality of dishes and the location is ideal.
Will definitely be visiting again soon!!

Asked to sit at tiny table by young waitress ( we were going to have a meal) as "only 2 of us" and wanted larger tables for expected "large groups" during rugby game. Small table was too small for eating a meal, so we left. Poor customer experience ( unlike last visit!).

Terrible service from the barman. He gave the Guinness I ordered to somebody else then started shouting when I asked him about it.
The girls where very understanding when I raised the issue with them but he ruined my night.
I left upset and will not return.

Many thanks for taking the time to give us feedback.We are naturally disappointed with your one star rating,considering the vast majority of our TA reviews in relation to staff are positive.
Our objective is to promote a positive,respectful culture between staff ,employees, and ultimately our customers
As your complaint was penned on a Saturday night
I can only assume this was the night in question.
I have now spoken with the two girls assigned to the front bar in addition to all staff working in the lounge.on that night.
they have all stated they have no recollection of this incident or any similar one fitting this description.
The two barmen employed could not be considered older

Have to say this is the best place for dinner I have ever come across. It's a battle what t eat from the menu because all the food is so nice ,wellpresented ,well cooked. I have to say that Charlene and Amy are a credit to this establishment, their manner is so welcoming you feel like your at home

Great pub all around
We had an evening meal on Sunday,we booked our table in advance as it was Fathers day.
We ordered the turkey and ham and rib eye steak,vegetables are roasted and flavoursome,everything is nice and hot and hubby loved his rib eye
served with onion rings and onions,homemade chips and pepper sauce.
Even though we were quite full we shared a baileys cheesecake after which was delicious.
Staff are excellent,very attentive,friendly and helpful.
We would highly reccomend Mc. Mahons.

This is our happy place. We come here on a Sunday for the carvery. It literally makes our day. Have to highly recommend the roast beef and the Merlot, but the reason we come back here week after week is Ian McGregor. He is so friendly, welcoming, attentive and his service is the best we’ve ever had. We have 4 young kids and he makes us all arrive and leave with a smile. A gem in Maynooth both in terms of food, family friendly venue but mostly service. We’ll see you next week!

Had a lovely lunch in Mc Mahons on Friday 7th of April, 3 of us, beautiful food, reasonably priced as well, excellent service. The waiter / barman was some craic, didn't catch his name, but he has a party trick when he is putting a drink down on the table he spins it 360 degrees without losing a drop, I swear I am still looking at him. A lovely pub and delighted we called in there.
