We are located in the centre of the Main Street in Maynooth Co. Kildare above McMahon's Bar. We specialise in serving modern Thai and South East Asian cuisine, along with delicious cocktails, craft beers and wines from around the world. Our style of service is friendly and relaxed as we believe dining out should be a fun and friendly experience. We have an enclosed heated rooftop terrace that comfortably seats up to 30 people all year round and is perfect for birthday bashes and corporate events. We also offer various group menus. We don't charge for room hire once there are a certain amount of people in the private group. We have a new and comprehensive VEGAN MENU. We cater for ceoliacs as we have many gluten-free dishes and desserts as well as a gluten-free beer! We are happy to discuss any dietary requirements you may have- just give us a call or pop in and we can have a chat with you about this and more.

I give this restaurant my highest recommendation all round. I simply cannot find a single fault with any aspect of it. The food is fresh, healthy & delicious. With the menu, you're really spoilt for choice for each course. The chef & kitchen staff are all excellent & send out the highest quality dishes, full of flavour & goodness. The menu caters for food preferences & if there's something you can't eat or are allergic to, like nuts for example, just tell them when ordering & they will assure your food is nut free & entirely safe for you to eat. It's family friendly. It's well set up Covid-19 wise, with high screens between tables, the staff wear masks & you're asked to use sanitizer before entering, which is just outside the door. Arrived on a Saturday night in a sleepy town thinking that the restaurant would not be too busy but found it was packed to the rafters (I know I should have booked) but being on my own, the Thai manager managed to squeeze me in with a clear concise limit that I had to out by, which was ok eating alone is quick. Most of the waiting staff looked like local students from the university, so it was hard to ask what the speciality dishes were, what I ordered was Gao Pad Khing, Chicken with Ginger what I got was a very rich dish with a small amount of ginger it tasted nice, but certainly for the western palate. I will return during a quieter period and hopefully get some more “Thai” dishes recommendations. My only gripe was the tiny coke bottle that came with my meal luckily a full jug of water came with it also.

Red Torch Ginger reopened at weekends , Thursday to Sunday I think for take away . With Maynooth's favourite closed as a dining restraunt at present this was a close second . Superb online booking available, payment taken on completing the order , it could not have been easier . Collection time given & met , full social distancing observed , staff wore face masks & gloves . Food : Starter of chicken satay was fab , mains of Thai green curry & brown rice was amazing , better half choose the chicken cashew & rice , fresh & spicy . Hats off to there brilliant staff for serving first-class food , packed in smart apertising packing , environmentally friendly & compostacle . Fantastic treat in these difficult times. 🥂🥇🥇🥇🥂

After booking a table and looking forward to a nice meal in red torch ginger only to be left so disappointed.
my starter was chicken satay, which was dry over cooked smothered in sauce
Calamari was just OK,
Main course was nazi goreng
a lump of soggy rice chunky peppers onion chicken,,, burnt black fried egg on top.
My husband ordered chiang mai noodles.
but that wasn't what he got.
we had to wave to get someones attention to take our order
after waiting 25 minutes
Not once did anyone check on the table to get us drinks
Don't waste your time trying it out

Sorry that your experience was so bad, admittedly we haven’t been experiencing the same level of service we are used to giving on a couple of days due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant and losing staff members last minute due to close contact rules - Sometimes this would happen just minutes before service as we run a covid policy for all of our staff to ensure everyone’s safety. We remember the night you dined.
We understood that you were upset shortly after you arrived as you raised this with us, and rightly so. It was not your fault that we were suffering staff shortages and you just wanted to enjoy your meal. We did make sure after your initial complaint that that you were looked after until the end of your visit. I am Sorry that this initial delay soured your entire visit.
In relation to your complaint about the food, although you are entitled to give your opinion, I must state for balance that the pictures you have also shared are very misleading. Though I do realise that you may not have intended to do this. You have posted pictures taken as you are progressing through your meal, two pictures of dishes that have been shared amongst you both as they are eaten. I note that from one of the blurry pictures it seems that the egg from the Nasi Goreng has been placed on the plate with the Chang mai noodles. I can indeed confirm from the picture that it is Chang Mai.
We do hope that you would come back and try us again some day. We are not always under the same amount of pressure that we have been in very recent times due Covid Restrictions and understand that these had a significant impact on your expectations

I ordered 2 children's meals and 3 adult meals, asked for chips to accompany the children's meals got sticky rice instead, having been told we could have chips! Ordered fried rice with 2 of the adult meals got more sticky rice. Interestingly on the bill all meals had steamed (very sticky) rice included, no mention of what I ordered even though I stood beside the lady as I ordered and she added that there were to be no peppers with the meal. Why did she ignore my order, could have told me I couldn't have chips or fried rice?
You can imagine how disappointed we were when I unpacked our meal!

I am regular customer,mainly for take aways but also many times to dine in. The food is simply great, always fresh, well seasoned, the portions are also good value for the money. If you like Thai food this is the must go.

We booked online where the restaurant stated we would get a free round of cocktails. However, when we tried to order from the cocktail menu the person taking our order had to "check it" with the Manager. The Manager informed us we couldn't order from the cocktail menu, but had a cheaper version of cocktails that we could order instead. There was a long discussion with her where she basically said we hadn't booked correctly online - but we argued with her that we had! It got an evening that we had been looking forward to for a long time, off to a really bad start. We had a work booking arranged for a party of 6 in 2 weeks time that we have now cancelled because of the very poor customer service from the Manager. I think the restaurant need to be more clear about what they are offering online, as the free cocktails are the "cheaper" one's listed on a separate menu.

Hi Mary,
Feedback is important to us, In rare circumstances - so is the right to reply. After speaking to staff on duty that evening, and scouring the booking records looking for evidence of your VIP club booking (needed to avail of the cocktail offer), we couldn't find them. What we did find was a booking made through a generic online ordering platform. Not a booking made from a member of the VIP club. In fact the original booking name was not made from a Mary. I can only imagine that it was made from another diner at the table and they incorrectly relayed how they had made the booking to you. As is explained to members who join the VIP club, offers are only valid when made through the VIP channel.
It has to be mentioned that the manager did not hesitate to offer your table a complimentary glass of prosecco, as a gesture in lieu of you not making the correct booking. The table initially firmly rejected this offer but later on, you asked to avail of it.
It also has to be mentioned that we received internal feedback from this table stating that they felt uncomfortable that they were given a timeframe on their sitting (1hr 45mins). This is communicated by text message and email in advance of the booking as the entire country has to operate to very strict guidelines due to the COVID19 Pandemic and restricted times are there to keep all of our staff an patrons safe. Your table stayed 30 mins past your allotted time even after requests from management to follow the guidelines. We have worked hard to achieve and build up our reputation in Maynooth over the last 4 years, which has become even more difficult to maintain in recent times with the challenges faced by COVID.
The cocktail menu is not a "cheaper version". It is just specific to the offer that we make and is widely enjoyed.
It is regrettable that you cancelled your table for two weeks time. When you asked my colleague if you would get this drinks offer in two weeks time, she informed you of the process to avail of this... which is the same process that used by all of our existing VIP club members.
Sorry we are not for you.

Food is excellent, however we booked through the VIP package which included a free round of cocktails - were surprised to see the cocktails on the bill, apparently there is a different cocktail menu for the free ones included in the package which we were not made aware of. The manager did take the cocktails off the bill but it would have been a better experience if this situation had not arisen. Having said that the restaurant is very well organised with screens and sanitiser so we all felt very safe and the food is amazing. We will be back

Friendly service for first time visit - make sure you look for sign for restaurant, above bar. Definitely worth slowing down to find it! Family of four, two had early bird menu (starters: samosas and pork wontons), then hot (temperature and only those wanting spice) - ramen, pad kee mow…and for GF, I had ginger prawns. Portions were actually quite large, food was steaming fresh and very tasty. Highly recommend - but you’ll need a reservation. As we left, approx 7 pm, the evening crowd was really picking up. So if you are a family looking quieter meal, early bird is for you!

Red Torch Ginger is clearly one of Maynooth's top restaurant's,
Beautiful surroundings with tables carefully set up & well spaced with covid in mind .
The menu is superb with many fantastic choices to suit all tastes. Service it has to be said is first class . Red torch should be top of your list for a special night out 🥇🥇🥇🥂

Sunday afternoon meal. We had eaten here on a few occasions and it was very good. Not so today. We asked for the a la carte. Dim sum nice. Pork belly tasty but hard to cut. I asked for a sharp knife and was told the only knives they had were on the table. Crispy sea bass and duck tamarind very overcooked. Said this to the manageress (?) Who chose not to reply. Very disappointed with the meal which was poor value for the main courses.

Our first time in this lovely upstairs restaurant in Maynooth. We were a party of 6 and we were seated in an lovely area outside but covered by a canopy roof, which was lovely as it was a really warm night and inside the actual restaurant was very warm.
First thoughts were that the menu looked a little limited, although to be fair we picked 6 different mains, all of which were excellent.....
A couple of combination platters to start were of good size and there were even a few bits left over.
The portion size of the mains were also generous and as i mentioned we all had something different. The heat guide was good and pretty accurate from a couple of milder ones to the hottest ones bringing plenty of heat.
We had a fussy eater among us (restricted diet) and to be fair the servers went out of their way to ensure every need was catered for on the night.
Overall we had a brilliant night and will definitely return for more.
On the night we signed up for their VIP club, which is a brilliant idea, offering complimentary prosecco on arrival as well as cocktails for bigger groups. Follow up email arrived with more details and it looks like yet another reason to dine here.

My husband booked a meal after weeks of locked down and was looking forward to it only to have the whole experience spoilt by staff.
Email was sent upon receipt of booking advising of free cocktail and when we requested it was told that offer was not in December.
Upon reading other reviews many others are being duped into believing they are getting a cocktail in other months.
It was more rhe reaction and being made to feel cheap and small for asking for the offer they had sent us.
Service was poor and was glad to leave won't be back.

We had an 8.00 pm booking. We were 15 minutes late. The head waitress told us that our table wasn't ready and asked us to wait outside in the cold reception/hallway. All chairs were occupied. She then asked us to sit at a spare table. Eventually we were called to our table, which wasn't fully set.
After a further ten minutes we had to call a waiter to order drinks.
The staff were very friendly and efficient but were clearly over stretched.
The food was excellent.

This place is a hidden gem over McMahon's pub in Maynooth. The food is extremely fresh and delicious. Our 8 year old had the bento box which was really well presented and had a great mix of healthy foods. The calamari for starters was perfectly cooked (not rubbery!). My wife had the samosas and they were very tasty. I had the green curry for my main course and I was one of the nicest currys I've ever had. The portion sizes were very big so you're definitely not going to be going home hungry! My wife had the duck and really enjoyed it. The meat was very tender and the sauce it came with was amazing. Overall, it's a definite recommend from us. We'll be back!
