How is Rosleague Connemara Restaurant rated?

A night at this hotel + dinner was planned a a treat during our tour of Ireland. Hotel & breakfast were great (reviewed separately), but I am amazed at the consistently good reviews for dinner - must be my fault! Menu read much better than...the reality. Smoked duck salad with Popcorn? Who adds popcorn to a duck salad? Especially as it was that Butterkist candied stuff you buy in bags at cinemas. Did nothing at all to enhance the dish - just weird. Rack of lamb good, but pork dish awful; overcooked, salty & dried up. Menu said "pork" & this was gammon and needed a lot more soaking before cooking. Atrocious veggies. At $60 for 3 courses, you need to do better than boiled-to-death mushy broccoli & soft, tasteless cubes of carrot/swede (could have been anything). So many delicious, interesting veggies out there! We cut our losses at 2 courses & saved ourselves $40! The charming staff did offer me an alternative to my inedible "pork", which I refused as my husband had nearly finished his main. Reception did reduce our bill by €50 which was appreciated, but what I really wanted was a really good dinner...More

Best Meal of our Trip

Absolutely loved our dinner at Rosleague Manor. Best dinner of our trip. Breakfast was also excellent. Service was top notch.

Simply a perfect dinner.

This is a lovely restaurant. The Manor location is simply impressive, with outstanding views over the bay within the Connemara National Park. The building itself is wonderful, victorian style. The bar where we waited for the dinner room to open is a very romantic space,...and we could order the dinner from there. The restaurant itself is a wonderful space, with a very nice decoration. The attention was perfect since the beginning to the end, warm and professional at the same time. Finally the food. We took the dinner menu, which allows you lots of choices in each of the four dishes, inclouding desserts. Dooncastle Oysters were supperb. Also was the carrot soup. The baked medallions of Monkfish were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked. Finally the Poitin Ice-cream was different and very tasty at the same time. It was a perfect end for a perfect dinner.More

Fantastic Location, views, garden, restaurant and resident dog!

We visited Rossleague to dine as we read good reviews and also as it's garden is listed in a book on gardens in Ireland. neither disappointed - the food was fantastic. The view over the bay was spectacular and the garden was beautiful. Whilst it...is perhaps a little pricey to dine, it is certainly worth it for a treatMore

So Yummy

We don't love mussels but had the best dish of possibly our whole trip eating mussels in a coconut and chili broth here. All of our dinners were delicious.

4th time here, never disappoints

Nice, quiet location, very dog friendly (they can stay in the room with you), warm welcome, attentive staff and the food...absolutely amazing! Marc & his team do their best to ensure you’re happy and comfortable and it works, we’re now coming to the end of...our 4th stay with two very happy doggies 😊More

High class establishment that fell short on the day

A grand country house setting and atmosphere with a lovely large conservatory bar area. We came for a birthday celebration dinner. The food was excellent - classy, well prepared and presented. However we were underwhelmed by the service. The servers were friendly but not very...confident - youngsters recently arrived and still lacking in training and experience. Service was very slow. We arrived on time for our booking and were shown to the bar. Nothing much happened. Eventually we asked for menus, made a choice, and then had to ask to be shown to our table. Our first course arrived a full 45 minutes after our table booking time. The kitchen seemed overwhelmed by a large group staying at the hotel (so they should have been prepared). Also the group was pretty noisy, which rather diminished the atmosphere for us.More

relaxed atmosphere and great food

A group of us recently went for dinner to Rosleague Manor and as always we had a lovely time, two of us had been there many times but for the others this was their first time. Drinks in the lovely conservatory set the scene. We...ordered or food and wine. The beautiful dining room gets you in the mood and the food as always lives up to the standard. Everything was beautifully cooked and well served. It was a joy. And the extra treat is coffee in the front sitting room, looking out over the sea and mountains. Relaxed and warm.More

This is a top class restaurant that serves top class food

This restaurant serves superb food. Lots of fish and all local produce. The wine list is also extensive. It is five star food.
