Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ordered 2 flat white coffees. Sat down and realised it was lukewarm. We did drink them, but did mention it to the staff. We were told that it was hot a minute before we drank it, which was obviously not correct. We said that we...didn’t want replacement drinks but wanted to mention it so that it could be addressed in the future. In comparison to other places the cups were rather small and I thought it was overpriced, as we had much better sized cups in Cong and a lower price.More

Our B&B guy recommended it. Wonderful place inside (outside would be fantastic on a sunny summer afternoo)...a pub feel but literally the best food of our trip. My wife had the lamb special (wine sauce) which was one of the best things I have tasted...in a long time. I had the cod special (with bacon reduction sauce) was delicious and only surpassed by the lamb. Wonderful vegetables went with mine ..perfect broccoli and carrot mash (so good) ...Good beers great service... wonderful first meal in Ireland have to say.More

Our group of six dined in Veldons on Saturday night, there was a courtesy bus that picked us up and dropped us home. The food was delicious and good value. A big thank you to Noel and his lovely staff for a great evening.

We went here for lunch and it was really good. My husband had the Cod and chips with salad and mushy peas and really enjoyed it. I had a Toasty cheese and bacon sandwich which was delicious. The waitress who served us was very attentive...and helpful. Their apple tart and ice cream is gorgeous. We both enjoyed it. We have been here before and we think it’s a great place to stop for food and refreshments and is near Connemara National Park. The scenery around it is beautiful. We will be back and would recommend it to everyone .All the staff we met were tops.More

I have been here many times and loved Veldons seafarer letterfrack but sadly on my last visit I was very disappointed with the seafood platter. It was a cold dish which was not stated on the menu and when it came out in under 5...minutes. I was disappointed to see it was basically salmon out of a packet and tasteless. The prawns had merry rose sauce with some paprika powder on them. The crab meat had some apple and the salad had tasteless dressing. No effort put into this €29 dish. I didn’t eat the salmon and prawns after a bite. I then give the manager my feedback very politely and having a conversation about the holidays. I was shocked when he took full price of me for the meals and didn’t even offer discount. A place I have many good memories and meals in is ruined now. I run a business and I know from experience that it is very bad business to not compensate the client in some way.More

This spot will forever be cherished in our hearts. My fiancé proposed on a hike atop a rock on the Diamond Hill loop. We came to Veldons immediately afterward to celebrate with oysters and champagne. Upon the staff realizing we were engaged, they were so...genuinely elated for us. You could feel their joy. They made sure our time there was special and honored us by letting us pour a pint of Guinness. We will be back to celebrate an anniversary! Cannot recommend this place enough. The oysters were the best I have had and the staff was the best we’ve encountered in our travels. Much love to you, Veldons!More

Had an amazing late lunch here with super food and happy friendly staff. There was an extensive choice and as we like to eat early we appreciated this. While eating I noticed a local van pull up with containers of fresh fish on ice and...it was brilliant to know that this restaurant mean what they say regarding their local suppliers My husband had pan fried hake with roasted pepper sauce which was freshly cooked and delicious. My scampi was the nicest I've eaten in a while. This is a gem and we will look forward to returning whenever we are the areaMore

We called in here to see if we could get food at 6pm on Bank Holiday Sunday with a party of 5. We were immediately greeted by the very friendly Liam who recognised my husband and I from the lunchtime the day before. On a...busy June Bank holiday weekend this was already impressive. We were then looked after by Olive who couldn't do enough for us and the lovely Liam kept checking in on our table too. The food was very quick to come to our table and the mussels were especially fab. So was the Scampi and the calamari. The very friendly manager took the time to try and greet each table again adding that friendliness that just made the night special. Good music was on in the bar. The only drawback and absoloutely out of the control of the staff were the midges that just kept nipping but this was a reflection of the very intense hot weather unusual for Ireland at this time of the year.More

Stopped at Veldons for lunch before climbing the Diamond (pretty close by so it's a good spot for food or drink before or after visiting the national park). The seating area out front is ideal on a sunny day. The beef burger was disappointing as...it was a little bland but the calamari was excellent.More

We first visited Seafarer’s five years ago on a family visit. We returned in 2019 and this week, on our first trip back since then, we had the pleasure of dinner here two night’s running. We were a large group (10) and the lovely manager...went out of his way to get us a table sorted even though the place was heaving. The food was brilliant both nights - the lamb was delicious, the burgers divine. The Cajun chicken is good and the lamb stew is also very tasty. Service was friendly and as quick as could be managed on very busy nights. The bills were very reasonable. We will definitely return next time we are back.More
