My Fiancée and I landed in last night at half 8 in the middle of storm Jorge. The owner and the chef were sitting by the fire as they had stopped serving food because of the weather. Even though the kitchen was closed they very...kindly offered to make us food, saying that they wouldn’t send us home hungry. The chef, Chris, made us two absolutely lovely Cod and Chips which we ate by the fire whilst chatting to the owners. Amazing food and great Craic on a Stormy night. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and we could’ve happily sat by the cosy fire all night - would highly recommend and will definitely be back!More

No vegan options on the menu so was about to go next door to the smugglers. Server told us "no problem" they have a go to dish they can do. Got brought out a two tiny servings of pre-made plain boiled white rice and what...must have been a quarter. of a tin each of mixed beans cooked in sweet chilli sauce; no problem at least they tried. Got the bill and was charged ~19 euro each for this. Queried this with the server who soon got the owner who ended up being a complete egomaniac going on about the cost of his mortgage apparently being in the millions. Absolute joke of a restaurant and owner.More

Recently, I visited the Gaslight with 6 of my friends. The food was average but nothing special for the price. However, when we were paying. The manager first gave out to us for not informing them that we would be paying separately at the beginning...as it was an ‘inconvenience’. We then paid separately one by one only to be accused of not paying for a meal, even though he dealt with us individually and seen every one of our faces. He would not even check the till to see if he was in the wrong, being 17 year olds we would not dream to not pay. To add to this, we are local girls and know some of the waitresses, so why would we not pay? His attitude to us was sour and not appropriate to anyone, leaving us feeling very unsettled and upset. To us it wasn’t even about the money, it was about his manners and how badly we were treated. I will certainly not be back and nor will any of my relations, it is a great pity as I only live 5 mins away from there. No one deserves to be treated the way the manager treated us. I would NOT recommendMore

Myself and my family turned up here with no booking and were accommodated straight away. Really great value set 3 course meal at €25. Tasty food and super staff. Kids loved the meal too. A must when visiting rossnowlagh.

First time visiting the gaslight and safe to say it will be my last. As a local from ballyshannon I’m always happy to spread business and support places like here but I have never as a 17 year old come out of a restaurant so...close to the verge of tears. Upon eating our incredibly mediocre overpriced food myself and my 6 friends went proceeded to pay. As teenagers it was obvious not one of us was going to pay for the entire meal and that we would all be paying individually- something which usually is no big deal. This was greeted by an extremely unnecessary lecture from the male manager who reminded us of how awkward it was and that it is putting him out of his way - despite the fact we were the ones paying ??? All six of my friends paid (witnessed by ALL of us) followed by me. Of course though the experience wasn’t the best at this point we tipped them. Next the manager turned to me and said that we still had not paid for one of our meals. I immediately said that couldn’t be right but there was really no talking to him. He then said we were not leaving until we paid him yet it was clearly his fault and he had made a mistake - there was no way we could not have all paid as 3 of us paid with card and had receipts And the other 4 had paid with cash and had the change. It was complete and utter b*llsh*t. He became extremely aggressive and gave myself or my friends no chance to speak - (7 17 year old girls surrounded by a 50 year old man spurting abuse - verbal Harassment could definitely have come into question here). My friend reminded the manager of how rude he was being and she was told to not talk over him. He then took the €17 we ‘owed’ off him and stormed off - leaving every single one of us shaking and nearly in tears. Never have I ever been so shocked to see such behavior in my life - so long to the customer is always right. It was not even considered that he could be wrong - instead he chose to pick on vulnerable teenagers who he seemed to think wouldn’t kick up a fuss if they were scammed. No wonder everyone only goes there when smugglers is booked up, look forward to 7+ bad reviews from all our friends and family!More

We stopped by for dinner. While there was an excellent 3+ course menu for 25 €, we both took the baked cajun salmon served with vegetables and a sweet chilli & coriander sauce. It was superb and frankly, the best meal I've had in my...2 weeks stay in Ireland. As the salmon was fresh we were told it would take 20 minutes or so to prepare so we asked for a dish of nibbles which arrived as a selection of excellent cheeses, biscuits & olives to have with our drinks. The fish was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with carrots, broccoli and cauliflower served separately. Unfortunately we just didn't have room for sweets. Great atmosphere, terrific food, friendly staff and fantastic view over the sea and beach.More

As always the food here is top notch..we wanted to watch the liverpool game and were given a table right beside the tv. When liverpool won anthony provided us all with a shot to celebrate....free of charge. The gas light has to be one of...my favourite places to eat not just in donegal!! If you could provide the dolphins jumping next time that would be great!! Thanks anthony and Pauline for great food and great crackMore
