Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First, the service was excellent. I had the fish and chips which was pricey at €17 and the batter wasn’t great. It all fell off and was too crispy. The fish itself was good. My husband had the steak which had quite a bit of...gristle and was very salty. For the price of the steak there was no salad or veg. Mediocre meal.More

I visited my cousin Mary Flagherty in Killybegs 10 August to 15 August; I was in Killybegs for 5 nights and had an evening meal at the Tara for 3 of those evenings. A couple of the main reasons I love this restaurant are that...the food is excellent and is a reasonable price, a varied menu, and you can just have a starter if you want. There is a beautiful view overlooking the Atlantic. Yvonne and the staff were as ever efficient and very friendly. Love this place never disappointed.More

Unfortunately very disappointed experience, poor choice of menu, long waiting , and absolutely bland and tasteless food. We won’t be back and we don’t recommend this place at all.

Ordered fish goujons 14.95. Overcooked dry food with disgusting chips. Total waste of money and time.

Visited twice. They have loads of tables and lots of staff working, so it's handy spot to just walk in. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. One evening we got a seat at the window and it was lovely to look out at the...harbour. Would reccommend.More

Wonderful restaurant with customer views over the Killybegs harbor. The staff was courteous and kind, and helpful across the board including recommendations on local fare - 2 of which we had, which were both outstanding. We will be back !

I visited my cousin Mary Flagherty in Killybegs; I was in Killybegs for 5 nights and had an evening meal at the Tara for 3 of those evenings. Food is excellent and a fair price. Beautiful view overlooking the Atlantic. The bonus was the staff...the Manageress Yvonne, a young man called Jonny very pleasant and funny with it and a young woman called Deborah - what I noticed about Deborah and commented on it that she was extremely good looking. They also had one of my favourite dishes on the menu Monk fish and Prawns - yummy. I cannot wait to go next July.More

We were amazed by the standard and choice of food here. Their cocktails too were amazing; their bramble gin so fresh and delicious and their porn star martini as good as anything we have tasted elsewhere, it is quality food and drink without pretentious pricing....I had the fish platter which came with a pot of steaming mussels and cockles, two big pieces of fish and was simply divine. Another had the pasta, rigatoni with chicken and mushrooms, also great and others had the burgers. The desserts were stunning, a pavlova, a sticky toffee pudding and a cookie dough and ice cream. I enjoyed everything about this place and will definitely revisit !!More

I had the burger. Very tasty and decent portions. Service was mixed. One waitress was amazing, others, including one of the managers didn't seem too interested. Had to use the bathroom off the reception and needed a key card. Little in terms of covid good...practices. Key cards just left in a bowl. Not asked for ID to match covid cert.More

I was travelling around the wild Atlantic way with my wife and two sons. We decided to go into this restaurant for dinner on our second day. The food was lovely and service was fine apart from a lady with short blonde hair who we...took to be the manager. She was very abrupt and rude to her staff in front of the customers, which Ilwe thought was completely unprofessional. There was a young waitress who seemed to be very upset after speaking with her. She hasn’t even made a mistake in our eyes, she had simply forgot the side orders but once it was mentioned they were brought out straight away. Once we had finished the meal, this blonde woman came over and snatched the plates from out beneath us. My youngest son (aged 7) was still eating and she lifted the food from under him. We didn’t even get offered a dessert menu! Overall, the manager made us feel like a burden to deal with not like customers. It’s a pity because everyone else was very accommodating and the food was lovely. Don’t think we would ever return after this experience if we ever decide to travel to Donegal again.More

Good choice of food, but don’t have a regular portion unless you’re very hungry, small is plenty. Very civilised in here, no noisy groups.

We stayed at the Tara Hotel but ventured out to find a place to dine, only to find that the fishermen and locals were making their way here. It is a bar and restaurant combination. The restaurant has a spectacular view of the harbor and...you couldn’t ask for a better place to sit and eat indoors. From the images you can see that the Turntable restaurant is separate from the hotel and colored red for distinction. The staff was wonderful. You cannot beat this place for the view, service, food, or price. We enjoyed a calamari appetizer locally caught. Then we had Killybegs Cod, fried and grilled. Both were spectacular and arrived hot. They had great prices. We had two meals, drinks, and an appetizer for less than 75 euros. Definitely worth the stop. Great Food, service, view, reasonably priced, friendly service and locals. We had a great evening.More
