Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Terrible battered sausages they are like cocktail sausages battered and for the price of €10 for 6 cocktail sausages battered I think that’s a rip off. I also asked for a tray of curry sauce €3.50 and got a dip. Won’t be back asked for...salt and vinegar as well and chips had none on. First time ever leaving a food review but I found it that bad I had to.More

My wife and I, visiting northwest Ireland in 1993, (We had to use July 2023 as our visit time, in order to send this review !) had lunch at Melly's , and ordered the fish and chips. Whether it was the type of fish, or...the preparation, it was the best tasting fish we had ever had. From that day forward, wherever we have fish and chips, be it back home in Canada, or throughout Europe or the US, when asked to comment on the fish, we say that while it may be very good, or even very very good, it isn't as good as Melly's in Killybegs, Ireland !!More

Had a lovely chowder, excellent sandwiches, and gorgeous veggie salad for lunch on a sunny spring day. Food was all made fresh - nothing packaged. Feels like the kind of spot I'd visit a few times a week if it were close to home!

Food was decent but a mean member of staff left a bad taste. They don’t like or appreciate custom from the North of Ireland and insisted on scamming us out of nearly 7 pounds due to making up their own exchange rate which was not...correct. Another member of staff quoted the correct rate but was contradicted by this mean member of staff who insisted that their personal rate was 8% lower. Would not return due to meanness and bad attitude which is frankly discriminatory towards Northerners, didn’t realise we are still living in the 80’s as second class citizens!More

Very disappointing! Chips were not cooked properly, burger was small and bland, and the curry sauce was pretty inedible. Very poor.

Family of four ate here today, we spent €37 on scampi and chips and threw all in the bin outside. Scampi was frozen processed muck but costed the same as fresh fish n chips that their neighbours charge, unfortunately they were closed. I wouldn’t be...posting here if they didn’t charge so much, very disappointing!More

My partner and I had 2 absolutely awful fish and chips...€25 bill for 2 day old, reheated chips with soggy fish...what a rip-off!! Every table I saw had left plates of pale, inedible produce, for the staff to clear up (or give to someone else)!!...Do yourselves a favour and look elsewhere!! Would give it no star if the system would allow!!More

We called in for 3 fish suppers with a drink each and it came to nearly €40. The food is served in boxes and plastic knives and forks are given (I can only assume this is because they couldn’t be bother to wash up) When...dealing with the general public you do expect a certain level of people skills which I just did not see. I asked for a bottle of coke and Fanta They girl gave me a can of coke and a bottle of Fanta with no glasses. I explained that I had asked and paid for a bottle of coke I asked if we could have glasses as well please with ice. Two glasses came down with no ice and my bottle of coke. At all times I was not once greeted with manners nor personality. I was very disappointed with the experience and I think attention to detail and customer care are required.More
