This is a fabulous restaurant! The food was fantastic and very friendly staff! Although we could not dine inside as of yet, eating outdoors was nice under the canopy ! I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant!

We were delighted to get a reservation at The Boathouse, which has just reopened. As with every restaurant/bar right now, all the staff are very young and inexperienced and just learning. We understand that and get that they are new to the profession of hospitality....They were all very pleasant and putting their best foot forward. Just did not have the experience to know the questions to ask. My scallops appetizer was amazing, served on boxty with a parsnip puree - divine. Three beautifully cooked scallops on a bed of boxty with a swipe of parsnip puree. Just the perfect appetizer. The menu was extensive and plenty of options, each individually prepared by a chef that knew his/her craft and was able to prepare fresh fish beautifully. Will definitely go back and hopefully the staff will be pros by the time we get back.More

The food was delicious from the starters to mains to desserts, no complaints! I had the Gaelic chicken, the pork belly starter was melt in your mouth. Others had fish dishes from Monkfish to Hake to Halibut and again everyone was happy with their food....The Guinness was good too! The staff were lovely and very pleasant to deal with. We will definitely be back anytime we are in Killybegs 😊More

Like all places now the Boathouse has been reduced to only takeout service. However the meal I just had was great. Good sized portions and excellent in every way. Would I rather it would be a normal restaurant, but as that is not possible because...of COVID this is the best possible takeout. I return often.More

Our meal at the Boathouse was fabulous! The service was really quick, staff were extremely attentive and the overall atmosphere was lovely, great community spirit in the Boathouse. We had crab claws to start in chilli and garlic butter which was so luxurious and fresh!...Then the monk and butternut squash risotto - which was so creamy and delicious. Overall the starters and mains were really tasty and presented beautifully. We finished off the meal with the creme caramel and the brownie, the brownie was definitely tasty, however, I did feel after such a brilliant meal that the desserts lacked creativity. The dessert was a little bit too basic for the Boathouse, I think they could experiment a little in this area. But overall, a brilliant experience and would absolutely recommend to anyone!More

We recently dined in the Boathouse a couple of days ago - booking in advance. Greeted by friendly staff & the owner we sat at our comfy and well spaced table. Our generous starters, Pork Belly & Monk/Prawn with cheese were excellent. We followed up...a pasta dish & a Brill fish dish which was out of this world on both taste & presentation. Wine is keenly priced too. It was so well enjoyed we rebooked for a second night this week during our stay in killybegs while exploring its beautiful countryside. Highly recommend and worth travelling to if you are in / around Donegal / Killybegs area.More

The Boathouse is a really good restaurant with friendly staff and nice decor. The food was delicious, extremely tasty. Felt the mains are slightly expensive and could be a couple of euros cheaper. But a very enjoyable meal and atmosphere.

The Boathouse is quite good on every level. Excellent seafood and good wine list. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean premises with strong Covid measures in place. Leisurely pace. Very good choice of background music.
