Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have become regulars here. The food is amazing - delicious, generous portions and great value for money. The Seafood Spice Box is not to be missed! However, it's not just the food. The staff are lovely - it's as if the owner went out...into a field and handpicked them specially. It's always a pleasure to spend time there.More

This spot is great for casual dining and drinks. The food is cooked in front of you and is very good, for what it is - quick tasty fast casual food. Delicious, as I discovered when washed down with a couple of Lagunitas beers on...draught! Live music starts at 9.00pm. A great place for lots of excellent pub food, drink and craic!More

Great spot for a fun night out and some really tasty food from the Trawler Boyz. There's a great atmosphere, the staff are really friendly and they serve a VERY good Guinness. In case you're interested, I'd rate their pint of Guinness top 5 in...Ireland. I'm a fan of the black stuff so like to keep score.More

Just had the most wonderful experience in theBlackbird this evening. After a stroll in the local area and Garryvoe area I called in for a quick dinner. I got the chance to catch dinner in the lovely ‘fields kitchen’ at the back of the blackbird....It was so refreshing to find a dog friendly pub, with such a calm and relaxing atmosphere. We (myself and the dog!) had the option of dining inside or outside and there was about 6-7 other perfect pooches enjoying a day out with their owners. I had the fish and chips from the food truck in the back. I wasn’t sure of my options being coeliac, but they kindly made me a fresh pan fried fish and chips with a side salad. It was delicious and so fresh. They had water bowls available around the pub and outdoor areas. We met a lovely local dog called Misty and couldn’t recommend the experience enough. I will definitely be back to this quaint and idyllic place.More

Excellent bar so much character and really good service. We didn’t eat here but there is an outside area with a catering wagon and the food looked great. We enjoyed the Caroline Sweeney band and the really upbeat atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

After our Cliff walk we popped in for some drinks & a bite to eat at this bar/kitchen situated in the main road , quite easy to find. What struck us was how spacious it was compared to many other pub/restaurants we visited during our...2 week Irish holiday. They had a big screen & a few tvs which had a championship football game on while we were there. Perfect for us football fans. There were different sections which made it more private & there was an outside section as well . Our group just had a few drinks & some chicken wings/chips to nible on. The vibe was enhanced by a band that started playing some nice mellow songs which was not to loud. We enjoyed the atmosphere & the spaceMore

Popped into the blackbird after a walk. The pub has a brilliant beer garden that can be fully covered if it rains. We had food from the food truck in the beer garden. Would recommend the scampi and fish and chips , absolutely delicious!

Visited the Blackbird pub and Field Kitchen for lunch. It’s advertised as dog friendly which is a bonus. Pub itself is cute and the young staff were friendly. Sat out back, got a menu. The “ restaurant is basically a food truck. Tempura prawns were...on menu so I asked how many came in a serving. Woman in truck said we don’t have prawns today. ( so maybe don’t have them on the menu then…..). Bit of a shame as ballycotton is known for its seafood. We ordered chicken fillet and chips. MIL had fish and chips. They were served in polystyrene cartons and food was average at best. So very disappointing. It’s chipper food but much more expensive. 13.50 for fish and chips. 8.50 for the chicken burger and chips were 3.50. Don’t know if we caught them on a bad day but not at all friendly in the food section. Kinda felt like the woman in the food truck didn’t want to be there. On the dog friendly side, no offer of water for the dog which is always a nice touch. They could definitely do more with this place. Put on some music to create an atmosphere and get friendlier staff (again pub staff were nice, food ppl not so much) the food part is a separate “ business” so you pay separately for drinks and food. At least now I know to pass on the food if there ever is a next time …..More
