Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Coffee, tea and cake was very nice and the man who runs the shop was very welcoming! It's a quirky little shop with books to buy, Would definitely come again!

On our drive back from Vik, we stopped in because I love books and coffee! How could you not stop in to this adorable place? The coffee was fantastic and the selection of books was fun to look through. It was quaint, cozy, and relaxing.

This is a cozy little café and a must-see for book-lovers visiting Selfoss. We found shelter from the wind and rain here, with great coffee served by a very sweet lady, and got the heat back in our bodies as we browsed both a great...selection of English-language books (plenty of Halldor Laxness here), Icelandic books, even some German and Swedish books, as well as some great art books, both new and used. Prices for some of the books were maybe a little steep for us travelling in Iceland on a budget, but the coffee was definitely reasonable (and good), and all in all well worth the visit. We even had some live piano music played for us as we enjoyed our cappucinos. Check it out!More

We were so happy to stumble upon this as we drove through Selfoss. Lots of places to sit amongst shelves of books with a hot drink and cake. It was a nice place to relax and read.

What a lovely bookshop with a super-nice mother/daughter who served us good coffee and Icelandic marriage cake, then showed us illustrated books about Icelandic folklore, which we bought to take home. A pleasant sojourn, highly recommend. Takk!

This shop delivers a warm, studious atmosphere. Offering a few sitting areas tucked into the nooks and crannies, the small store carries a surprisingly robust variety of genres to please many age groups and interests. I sipped on a cappuccino paired with a fresh oat...and rhubarb pastry, that may have been a Hjónabandssaela? Delicious! I thumbed through a memoir, read a children's book to my toddler, and eyed some classics. I walked out with a fiction novel, and an artfully illustrated Ragnarok Folklore collection. I would strongly recommend stopping here to book lovers, couples, and history buffs. We pulled over and warmed up here on a rainy morning en route to our next travel destination, and are still glad we did.More

Very relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff and great drinks/food. We really enjoyed visiting here and would definitely recommend it. Very reasonable prices and sitting in amongst the books made it feel really cosy.

One of the worst cafés I have ever visited. Not very nice interior, really bad coffee, and expensive.. But worst of all were the staff, very rude.

The Bookcafe in Selfoss was a beautifully crafted blend of independent bookshop and a cafe with a small burning candle on every table and many cosy corners to curl up with a book. They also have a great upright piano for the visitors to play-...the live music made the place especially wonderful. I enjoyed my chai latte very much, the only thing I felt I would have needed was more time to spend there :)More

They have a wonderful selection of books and good coffee! They were kind and patient with us (American travelers). Stop in for Kaffe and a selection of Iceland travel books in English. We enjoyed sitting inside on the couch or there is cute outdoor patio...seating.More

Such a lovely atmosphere to have a coffee and peruse some books. Very welcoming, and a whole section of English books to make it simple. Loved it!

We stopped here in 2016 and loved it, especially the waffles and rhubarb jam with chantilly cream. Unfortunately they don't do the waffles anymore so we were disappointed when we returned recently. The coffee is good and it's nice to be able to relax among...the books.More
