Vogafjos is a farm, guesthouse and restaurant inside a cow shed. Some of the tables have views through a glass window to the cows in the barn. All of the food is produced from the farm including all the dairy products. We ordered pan fried arctic charr and lamb shank. Totally amazing, and with fresh baked bread and Icelandic butter,... Read my review on their accomodation. Food was INCREDIBLE at this place. All farm raised and or locally grown products that are available to them are used and AMAZING home baked breads in the morning. I will forever remember the food and can't wait to return! They were also nice enough to tow our car!

After a long day of hiking in the snow, this place was perfect! The arctic char and burger (meat from the farm) were both really delicious. Topped it off with Angelica schnapps and left feeling full and very satisfied. Prices in line with nicer restaurants here in Iceland. No complaints at all! The restaurant is connected to an area with... More

We are from California and are not novices to the concept of "farm to table", but the Cowshed Cafe truly exceeds expectations in this space. Located right by Lake Myvtan, this little unassuming restaurant (that is actually attached to a cowshed) dished out everything from homemade smoked Arctic char to slow cooked lamb that was raised right on the property.... Quaint, cozy spot to eat. Nice staff, cute little shop to wander around as well. We were able to see the northern lights right as we walked out of the restaurant.

Beautiful location, nice view of Myvatn and grazing cattle. Excellent service and excellent food. But! Through windows between the restaurant and the cows, the cruelty of the dairy industry were at display. Pregnant cows tied up so tight they could only move half a meter back and forth, newborn calves put in small boxes only a few meters away from... More

We recently stayed at the Vogafjos Guesthouse and enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at this charming cafe. The cafe is attached to a cowshed and you can see the cows and calves through windows. The breakfast buffet, which was inclusive with our room was excellent with fresh milk and homemade breads. The dinner was really quite delicious, fresh and straight... More

As we drive through iceland we stayed at many different accomondations. Here we had the opportunity to sleep in an brand new hut with luxury interior. You can get for a nice price a place to sleep and breakfast in iclands best known farmers cafe. I recommend everyone to try this in iceland!

Our guide told us we are going to a farmer restaurant, but when i walk in i was surprise by the nice environment. There is a souvenir corner with the restaurant and at one side you are actually sitting next to the cowshed. You can see them thru the glass window but no worries as the place is very clean.... While some people might find it off-putting eating while watching about 20 cows chomping on their hay through a very large window, I thought it added to the atmosphere and country vibe of the cafe. Our family enjoyed the food including a huge shared platter for entree and lamb shank main course. The desserts looked yummy but we were too... More
