My prior experience was with seasoned waiters who anticipated your every need but were very unobtrusive. Post Covid they are younger, not as experienced waiters. We never served our second glass of wine; waited for our requested ticket, and then were given the wrong bill...(should have paid it as it was a fraction of our actual bill!!)More

I have been coming to Durants for over 25-years and I've never been disappointed. Even in the Covid 19 era they still put on a Class Act. The bone in ribeye was excellent. Perfectly done, seared on both sides medium rare. My other guests all...had fillet mignon and they enjoyed every morsel. The drinks were excellent, the service was excellent, and the best part was the deserts were free because I still have their 50th Anniversary coin. You go to Durant's for steak. While some people may say it's expensive, you get what you pay for. It's on par with the Capital Grille, Peter Luger's, Etc. Our waiter did a great job. I can't remember his name, but he waited on us previously. You do need reservations for the most part, and they do screen you for covid-19 which is fine. So whenever I visit Phoenix, I always make it a point to go to Durants and have a great time and a great steak in terms of their menu, is fairly extensive you can get a 48 oz porterhouse, different sizes a place, New York strip, porterhouse, bone-in prime rib, Etc. Always save room for dessertMore

What can we say about Durant’s??? Recently visited and probably had one of the best meals ever. Happened to be celebrating my and my husband’s birthdays and what better place to celebrate. We were not concerned about the COVID-19 because we knew that Durant’s would...take every precaution possible to make us feel comfortable and at ease. Of course your temp is taken and you are escorted into the restaurant to your table. No waiting in lobby. Our waiter Greg was one of the best and made our meal truly memorable with his professionalism and attentiveness. We certainly did not do without with him keeping an eye on our table at all times, but without being intrusive. Our meal consisted of a Caesar Salad, Prime Rib and Baked Potato. All were absolutely excellent!! Caesar Salad was fresh, Prime Rib was cooked to perfection and Baked Potato was given with all the extras. You must also try their Cheesecake. One of the best we have ever had. We did compliment the chef who cooked our Prime Rib when exiting the restaurant. We just simply can’t wait to go back. Love that place!!!!More

I have been to Durants a few times over a number of years. My husband and I dined there last Saturday night for our anniversary. We each ordered Ribeye steaks. They were well-prepared, tasted great with a nice char, though the cuts were a tad...tough. We were served crudités at our table to start. Then our salads and bread came. I loved the bread...it was served with a leek and garlic oil over the top. It wasn’t my husband’s fav, however. Our salads were good (we could have instead had soup). I had the garlic mashed potatoes and my husband had a baked potato. In addition, we ordered a side of asparagus. It was more than enough for the two of us and truly was green, pretty, and very perfectly prepared. Our desserts were very good, as well! There were lots of choices. My husband chose an apple cobbler, which included a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. I had the trio of creme brûlée. The atmosphere is nice, the history of Durants is interesting. We were seated at a nice curved booth which was a little too close to the end of the bar. There were a number of men standing with their drinks near the end of the bar during much of our dinner (presumably waiting on their table(s).). It would have been nicer had that not been the case, but it wasn’t bad. Our server was excellent, as was the gal who refilled our beverages/water and cleared used dishes when we were through with them. A lovely evening. I am sure we will return. We’ll perhaps try the prime rib and/or filet mignon next visit.More

I’ve heard about Durant’s for years but never went as it was outside of the normal area where I frequent restaurants. I decided to make the drive to celebrate an anniversary. I was not disappointed! The decor takes you back in time about 40 years....The service is friendly and attentive. Entrees come with soup or salad and a potato. I had the house salad which was fresh and good. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly, although the meat wasn’t as tender as others I have eaten. The baked potato came with plenty of butter and sour cream. The side of fresh asparagus we ordered was huge and tasted better than any I’ve ever had. To finish, I had apple cobbler which was a huge serving with lots of ice cream. My wife had creme brûlée which had three different flavors. It was also a huge portion. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Durant’s.More

We went to Durant's before a production show we saw at The Phoenix Theatre and it was absolutely perfect! So glad we made a reservation even though it was a Tuesday night. Crab cakes were to die for and the filet was tender enough to...cut with a butter knife.More

Went to Durant's for a business lunch with six people. Allison, the friendly, efficient. professional server announced the specials of the day included Beef Barley soup and Pot Roast. No doubt in my mind as to what was going to be on my plate. Delicious...soup with bite-size chunks of beef and lots of barley. The serving of tender pot roast filled about a third of my plate - and this is for lunch. Creamy mashed potatoes in a soup cup on the plate accompanied a service of sliced carrots completed the entree plate. The others had something different, and all cleaned their plates. We all passed on dessert because there was no room in our stomachs and we didn't have time for a nap. Old fashioned delicious food and very good to accompany your delighted appetites. EnjoyMore

Don’t get me wrong, the ambiance is amazing. And that alone is worthy of a visit. The old school booths, red lighting, etc are pretty cool. The food was average and considering it is one of the most expensive restaurants I’ve ever eaten at in...the area, it should have been spectacular. My advice, head to the bar, grab a drink and an average appetizer, then head to one of many exceptional Phoenix restaurants for dinner.More

Words that spring to mind-classic, old-school, historic, timeless...red. While visiting Phoenix for a long weekend we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at this iconic steak house in downtown Phoenix. The sprawling, aging white-washed building sits on a prime piece of land surrounded by soaring high-rises -and...looks to have been there first. There’s a large parking lot in back and a helpful free valet to park your car and retrieve it later. The back door actual takes you on a bRief shortcut through the bustling kitchen for a nifty peak behind the scenes before entering the red velvet clad dining room. We sat in a half-circle red leather booth and received the type of VIP service once common at restaurants of this ilk by tuxedo clad severs. In fact there was no shortage of wait staff and bus boys. As this place is mossy famous as a steakhouse (although there are other items on the menu), we opted to share the 12 oz filet (as the smaller cut, 8 oz was too much food for us). Your meal starts with a classic, complimentary relish tray and entrees cook with soup or salad, bread and potatoes. The mixed salad was nothing special but good sized and a gravy boat of dressing came on the side. The bread is a small focaccia loaf literally sitting in a dish of sautéd leeks and melted butter. The steaks have a nice salty crust and ours was cooked to perfection. Potato choices are a little underwhelming-typically a place like this has a signature spud, but no such luck here. They’ve got a good wine list including quite a few choice half bottles (which I like). There were lots of people celebrating birthdays and other special occasions which is probably due to the prices. Our steak was $80 which included the sides so not bad for two. Definitely a classic and a good meal.More
