Villa Traful is a village in the middle of nowhere, about 1.5 hours from San Martín de los Andes and about the same distance from Bariloche, with about the last 30 minutes on a dirt road. It's feels like a step back in time, and...in a beautiful setting. Worth a visit for sure, and Nancu Lahuen makes it that much more worth the visit. It's in a pretty wooden building with a thatched roof (don't get it confused with the confiteria/chocolate shop adjacent to it). They have trout served 5 different ways, and I ordered it with lemon (the simplest preparation). I had had trout twice before the two previous days in Bariloche and while they were decent, this one was out of this world! It was clearly as fresh as it gets (no doubt from the lake 100m away) and cooked to perfection. Vegetables to accompany were all made from scratch, as was the home-made bread (served warm). Service was very good, attentive, friendly and patient. Almost worth the long detour to Villa Traful just to eat here!More

If passing through or staying in Villa Traful plan to make a stop at this casa de te and chocolateria. I haven't eaten a meal here, but just stopped for various chocolate related drinks and tartas, all very delicious and large portions...plan to share a...piece of cake! The homemade chocolates are delicious and made on site. It's a great little restaurant that I imagine gets busy during summer, but in December, it was perfect.More

I visited this place several years ago and again a week ago. I'm happy to say that the place and the food are still great. I fully recommend the trout made with black butter, it's the best I have ever ate. The service is also...really good and the price is not high. Credit cards are accepted. The place is charming and they will serve you lunch, even if you arrive at 3 PM as we did. Enjoy!!!!More
