Best Italian meal ever outside Italy. Excellent food, excellent service, in a nice decor. We were getting tired of eating meat all the time and our hotel recommended Il gran Caruso. We were not disappointed. Highly recommended. We paid 50 usd for lunch for 2...including an excellent bottle of Malbec. Great value too, though food is quite cheap in Buenos Aires.More

Had a very enjoyable meal here. Service was very good and I would go back. Try the house made pasta.

I tasted Sorrentinos and Ravioli both were amazing. Good wine and great desserts. No to much alternatives for salads, they recommended one but it could be better.

In New York and in Chicago there are still Italian restaurants with red checked table cloths large menus and waiters that are as old as time itself. This is the tradition that I’ll Gran Caruso fits in. The menu is very large, pastas, mains courses,...salads, deserts, and the full bar pours strong drinks. We visited twice during our stay as our hotel was a few blocks away. The waiters are professionals. Not college age students but rather long-standing professionals who, with one hand, can use a fork and a spoon like tongs to gracefully serve a salad for two or divide a pasta that is being shared. Our pastas were perfect. And one got the feeling that they always are. The tiramisu was first rate and the afogato lovely (as a nice touch they put a bit of chocolate sauce under the vanilla ice cream so the last couple sips of the melted ice cream and coffee tasted like a perfect mocha.)More

The ambiance of the dining room was nice. Overall service was okay although the waiter brought our salad with jamon out and there was no jamon. We quickly pointed that out and he took it back and returned with the salad covered in jamon. The...veal saltimbacca was a large thick piece of veal nicely cooked with a rich sauce but there was no sagein it. The tagliatelle arrabiata was good but could benefit from a little more sauce on it. All in all it was a nice dining experience and we will go back!More

I tried the chicken capeletti with nut and mushroom sauce. The pasta itself was tasty, but you couldn't really feel the seazoning of the chicken filling. And the sauce was just ordinary. I really expected a sauce with mushrooms and nut to be super flavor...rich, but sadly this was not the case. I honestly think the sauce ingredients were put together just before serving the dish.More

Ditto, it was always provided via bottle, gas or no gas. Same as bread, provided, but always charged for. However, tipping was not always expected, so just a different custom to come out the same.
