Argentine friends invited us for dinner at a restaurant located next to the Pan Americano Hotel near the Obliesco and across from the Teatro Colon. It is a fine old restaurant with a previous rating of one of the five great restaurants in Buenos Aires...years ago. Today there are many new restaurants that are known but Tomo 1 still commands a top rating. The fresh food and precise presentation is still grand. Elegant, good decorum, well trained wait staff, wonderful wine list. Great value.More

Are you staying somewhere in the downtown area? Well, then this place should be on your to-do list. Portions are not huuuge, but you will taste some really interesting things.

The food is excellent and staff very friendly. Chef took the order himself and discussed choices. Everything well prepared and presented. Steaks delicious and desserts superb. Would definitely try this one again.

I met friends for dinner here. It was my second time in this restaurant. I had an appetizer, dumplings, and trout for the main course. A bottle of rose wine, and crepes for dessert. It was fantastic and the service here is top notch. While...the restaurant is considered pricey for Argentinians, it is shockingly affordable for Americans and Europeans. You would pay many times more for a similar dining experience in the US or the UK. I highly recommend it.More

Over the years , I have been to Tomo 1 for a lovely, quiet dinner. My most recent dining experience at Tomo 1 was so offensively bad , that I will not be returning again. I arrived at 9pm for dinner , solo. The dining...room was lovely, intimate and understated. Perhaps there was an understaffing/shortage of personnel, but the service was dreadful . The servers delivered each course unprofessionally, with no elegance or discretion. Instead, the servers were rushed and I felt like i was at a busy fast food restaurant at lunch hour. At one point , when I returned from the WC , the server had already placed my entrée at my table, on top of my linen napkin. Tomo 1 is an expensive restaurant and patrons should have high expectations. My dining experience was unacceptable for an establishment of this category . Advice to owner : train your staff.More

Dear Sir, we are very concerned by your comment and we apologize in advance for the inconvenience. Not that it’s your business but the reason to the personal shortage may be found in the fact that one of our waiters has been in an accident...More

We were truly delighted to discover this gem! (Apparently, it is an independent business within the hotel, located just above the regular hotel restaurant). The appetizers and entrees (seared shrimp, filet mignon) were delightful: delicious, flavorful, well presented, etc., etc. Service was impeccable (but neither...stuffy nor ostentatious). Our only regret is that the airline pilot's strike prevented us from visiting Tomo I again when we returned (after the solar eclipse).More

We had to knock on the door at 7:55 (despite the posted opening hour being 7:30 pm) - which told us how truly Argentine this restaurant is. From incredibly tasty appetizers through a scrumptious dessert (and Malbec and Malbec port), this was one of the...best meals I have ever had. And on top of the high quality food, our server was friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming. We will be back!More
