This is a really old restaurant has a great old Buenos Aires style. The food I was ok . They also have free Tango shows..the schedule is posted on a board in front.

We were jet lagged. We couldn't check into the hotel. This was the closest restaurant. I didn't like the Empanada de carne (25 pesos) or the pizza (190 pesos). This was a mistake.

It's a terrible tourist trap, the food was uneatable, the service really poor and everything from dishes to cloth napkins of poor hygienic standards... do yourself a favor and don't waste your money there, you'll regret it.

Definitely one to avoid!! We should have walked out once we got inside, but we stayed. We were seated upstairs in the pergola, everything quite dirty. Food was absolutely terrible, cold and obviously old! Despite being told the bread service was free, it appeared on the bill (60 peso) - after much argument and refusal to pay they took it... More

It is really a poor place. Too much staff not doing what they should (many people and still a poor quality of service).beef was ok, but it is hard to spoil Argentinian beef, wine too expensive and of a poor choice. First tango we saw was a piece of .... . Three dances, lack of feelings, dancers seemed to be... More

We should have walked out, but didn't. Sitting by the free tango show in the plaza the table they offered us had fresh bird poop on it...took 5 minutes to clean and that was only spreading it around the table. We decided since it was dusk it was getting cold and asked for a table inside, we were offered the... More

went here this evening. Sat in a great spot upstairs overlooking the plaza with excellent view of the dancers. But that's it. Had the pasta salad which came without some of the ingredients and half an hour after my partner's dinner! waitress was pleasant and obviously embarrassed. waste of time, money and calories!

Ate here on Jan 1st during a day tour of BA. Not many choices open due to Holiday but wish we had tried elsewhere. Service was very slow although the poor waitress wasn't the problem. Food terrible. Wish we had checked this out prior to sitting down. Don't waste your time. Tango dancers were only saving grace.

this resto is without any doubt the worst tourist trap I experienced in Southamerica.... stay away from that place. Ugly food (old, dry meat, dry bread, french fries in a hundred year old oil, brown salad), slow service, problems with paying by credit card. Incredible dirty kitchen (I had a loook while trying to pay with credit card). If you... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
