This restaurant offers a very nice atmosphere. The beef is probably one of the best in town and it's reasonably priced. The waiter was quiet impolite.

The food here was excellent. Delicious bread served with lovely dips including chimichurri and pesto when you sit down and the steak was cooked to perfection. Doesn't come with any sides so make sure you order them. My friend was veggie and had a tasty pasta. The waiter service was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!

Arrived just after opening time and got the last available table. Our waiter Mariano was excellent, providing lots of information about the food and wine. Steak was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend this restaurant (reservation advisable)

Chose this place based off of the number of great reviews on here and I was quite disappointed. The (medium) steak was super dry and the only sauce provided with it was what they gave us with the bread. The staff didn't pay much attention to us either as we had to ask for drinks/bill multiple times before they actually... More

A local friend took me to this place and its wonderful. All kinds of delicious meats grilled or roasted. The also have a nice collection of wines. The location is traditional with room for larger groups. Can get a little loud...

Had read good TA reviews and were in San Telmo for tango lessons so made reservations for a Saturday night dinner. Overall, disappointing .... food was ok and portions of potatoes and steak were large ..... Steaks were ok but nothing special.... not the greatest wine selection nor quality. Enjoyable but not a great Argentine steak/wine dining experience.

First visit to The Gran Parilla. Great appetizers: creamed spinach with cheese is awesome as well as the chirazo. I highly recommend the Lomo as well. I asked for rare and came out medium rare. I'd be very clear about it next time. It was still a very nice lomo! I plan on going back today for lunch and trying... More

Went for dinner last night with my husband. Was recommended to us by our hotel plus had read reviews. Did not disappoint. I thought the meat was delicious and perfectly cooked (my husband likes rare meat and although we had ordered rare it was probably medium rare and hence he felt it a bit overlooked). Delicious flavours. Large side portions... More

Went with a family of five, including children. The service was very good, and attentive even though the restaurant was busy. The steaks were good, though not the best we had on the trip (see La Rueda - Iguazu review), but the pasta dish was not as good. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is very charming. Price seemed... More

My fave parrilla, in all of BA. (Michelle Obama and her daughters, ate lunch, here, during their recent visit...... closed the restaurant for them.) Charmingly recycled meat market, from early 1900's, in bohemian San Telmo barrio. Corner of Peru and Chile streets. Absolutely top quality meats; wonderful wines; cute waiters; terrific marinated fava beans, for antipasti and fresh Argentine sauces,... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
