You should have lunch here, only empanadas, order only empanadas, are the best, tradiontally made, tasty, meat, cheese with onions, and chicken, try them as much as you can.. then you don't need more. With wine or Diet Coke! Hahaha!! But also the traditional pasta, is great or lentil stew. And to finish some chesse quesillo with some sweets!. Not... More

We came here after visiting the famous cemetery and was not disappointed. The price is really good. For a full lunch with lots of food and a bottle of wine , the total bill came out to be a little over 50 USD. For those who are particular with their good, don't order the micro as it has many pieces... More

I have visited Sanjuanino a couple of times and enjoyed each time. Excelent argentinian food, warm place. Would recommend for happy hour. Don't go late.

We popped here for empanadas at lunch and were not disappointed. They were hot and tasty and washed down with a cool bottle of Quilmes. Superb value at only 26 pesos per empanada, though the litre of beer we shared cost 120. Nice friendly service.

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the Recoleta cemetery. It was recommended by our tour guide Simon. The empanadas were great, so homemade. The thickly cut papas fritas were good but verging on cold. The mixed salad was fresh and we dressed it ourselves with wonderful balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The beer and wine were great!

after perfect empanadas in Salta we decided to try some in BA. Few locals told us this should be right place to try. Yes the previous comment about interior of the place is right. It is tiny, crowdy, not new and definitely not for romance dinner. But if it comes to the empanadas this is the right place to tried.... More

This place i was told is the best place to have an empanada in Bs As, well I have news for you, there are thousands, tens of thousands were you can have empanadas in this city some better some not as good but to call this ones the best is totally inaccurate. I went there with big expectations, the location... More

Best empanadas in Buenos Aires. That's what a passer by told us, unsolicited, as we looked at the restaurant from across the street. Nothing fancy, inexpensive, delicious empanadas. Busy take out indicates that locals love it.

This place serves excellent empanadas and the traditional giant pieces of beef with chips as well as a few other mains. It is certainly not fine dining but the food was fine and very filling. No sauces on the steak but the quality was very good, as you would expect, and portions were so large that one main was enough... More

Our guide took us to El Sanjuanino when we told her we wanted to eat "local" rather than as turistas. She frequents this typical old BA establishment, including a bag of empanadas on occasion for takeout. We had a mixture of meat, regular and spicy, and the Empanada Especial. Wow! best empanada/beer lunch in a long time. I had asked... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
