Jenny (the funny one) and Albin (the straight guy) are hilarious as they cook and joke their way through the supper you are about to eat. They demonstrate from their sunken kitchen while diners look on and laugh. Their Cook n Look evenings are held on a regular basis and it's a brilliant fun evening of entertainment with great food... KK is so very part of Knysna, it is a 'not to mis' The Kilzer family prepares the food, have everyone gather as spectators to their kitchen and food preparation....and there they take you through the whole menu. Some weekdays they have a long table, where you bring your wine and share a table with people you havent even met...and... More

Our second visit, again for a special occasion, where you want a memorable venue. This place continues to surprise. The ambience, helpful and friendly staff, humour of the family when explaining the meal in the kitchen, and circulating among their guests afterwards all adds to the ambience. The food is outstanding, both in presentation and flavour. As mentioned, there is... More

What a wonderful unique evening.... and probably the best food we have eaten in South Africa, which means a lot because, the food has been amazing on all of our trip, But this was Michelin class! Kilzers kitchen is a fabulous night out. The service is fantastic, watching them prepare and cook the food is great! The banter, and Jenny's... More

What an evening! Fantastic food (5 courses) plus the Albin and Jenny comedy show. A quite unique evening. Don't leave Knysna without experiencing it. Come to that, don't arrive in Knysna without having booked ahead, because you won't get in.

Our second visit. Fantastic food and a very unique experience. How often can you sit looking into the kitchen of a top class restaurant, an have the chefs guide you through each course of a most memorable meal. From the ingredients to cooking technique and presentation. If you are lucky enough to go once, you'll want to return over and... More

We go every year for good reason. These guys are the best. This isn't a conventional restaurant - it's an experience. Cookery tips and Jenny's comedy thrown in. Last night also saw a guest chef with a brilliant beef dish. The dessert was also amazing. It's a relaxed event. Don't go if you're in a rush. BYO and book in... More

This was our second visit - the last one being four years ago. I fully endorse all the reviews but would add if you are a couple on your own it can be quite noisy as there are a lot of large tables and the noise level rose as the evening wore on! It is a long evening and as... More

Description
Type of Cuisine - South African Part of Kilzers Kitchen Cookery School - this restaurant operates on Wednesday evenings only for the public. The format is basically as follows : Our guests 19:00 in the evening - bringing along their own wife and their own wine ....no corkage charges at all ( for the wife or the wine ). These dinners are hosted weekly ( Wednesdays) from the beginning of November - end of April annually. Upon arrival guests are welcomed by our waiters ( as we are frantically busy in the kitchen )--- and given appetizers to nibble on, as well as a "welcome drink" - at present our flavour of the Month - a home made Limoncello - to warm them up on a cold Winter's evening, or cool them down on a hot summer's evening. At approximately 7:30 for 7:45 we welcome all our guests to the open-plan kitchen, where we give them a complete run-down re: the dinner for the evening. Starters & main courses are prepared in full view of the guests as they congregate around the kitchen area, along with our famous joke telling - a bit of "Kitchen Theatre". After this guests return to their individual tables, ( laid up as per customer reservation ), and the meal commences with a starter, followed by main course ,dessert, coffee/ tea and biscuits to end the meal. Everything edible is prepared in our kitchen - including the apperitif, as already mentioned. All in all, it is an evening celebrating food, more food, fun, and of course, the guest's own choice of wines - which are sometimes dodgy, other times magnificent - all depending on individual taste. The atmosphere is a party atmosphere, and the noise level is generally high and festive.........Enjoyment of the evening is up to you. We would love to welcome you and look forward to a visit from you and whoever you wish to bring along.............wife, lover, mother- in- law............. We cater for any special requests, e.g vegetarians, gluten intolerant or any other food allergies. Please advise beforehand.
