I read a guide book review of this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Great place to taste a wide range of dishes and get great service. Cocktails to start with were not really my thing, but worth a try. A very different experience to the other places we ate at, and the waiter/waitress entertainment part way through the meal... More

This place is as much an experience as a restaurant. They have a fixed menu comprised of 16 small plates representing food from different part of Southern Africa. We enjoyed everything they put before us. The wine list represented many South African wineries. Each dining room was themed from a variety of African countries and tribes. After dinner, the staff... This is a great restaurant with a variety of dishes from various African cuisines. The "finger food" starters came first followed by a few more substantial dishes and all topped off with a great "international" dessert. Yes - it's aimed at tourists but so what? Nothing worse than tourists who complain about "lack of authenticity" whilst staying in lovely "inauthentic"... More

Went there twice within a month and both times were just great. The atmosphere, the food, the friendly service in short just everything. Forget Mama Africa and enjoy Africa Cafe

Sometimes you have to ask the people you are with how they liked a place not just your own tastes. Personally I did not like the food but the people I was with did. I don't think they were that excited about it as no one asked for more and the dishes they brought out were small., and we were... More

The ambiance and food was spectacular. Every dish was unique and full of flavor. My favorite dishes were curry patties, chicken legs, broccoli salad and the dipping sauces were amazing. The community style serving was great and you can re-order your favorite dishes throughout the meal. Drinks including water are an additional charge. Cons: the per person cost fluctuates and... This is an outstanding opportunity to sample the cuisine of Africa. A bit hokey in some ways but you do get a chance to try a variety of dishes and have more of nthose you like best (at no extra cost). It's a large venue covering several floors and there is a traveling entertainment troupe.

Best enjoyed in a group as you work your way through the extensive set menu of fabulous food that is best described as a communal feast. During the evening the staff members in their bright attire sing and entertain the diners. It is a FULL evening - a special occasion !Note that those you cannot handle stairs may have a problem... An African feast, similar to Dutch rijsttafel, where 16 dishes are presented to the diner. A nice variety of dishes, and flavored from all over Africa. I was a little disappointed that umngqusho - a traditional Xhosa dish was not one of the dishes.
