The Lamb Shank was heavenly, the whole family enjoyed the meal and what a stunning setting. The prices were reasonable, with good service, we would definitely go back.

When we arrived it was not quite what we expected as fairly informal pub style restaurant / bar. Service was good and a lovely spot with the waterfall and deck overlooking the valley. Could not find out much if they am actual trout hatchery? Menu...More

Dear Whctree Thank you for your review. I can agree with you on the fact that we are a fairly casual country restaurant. Not so much a pub, the bar is tucked into the corner and really only services the guests eating here. Thank you...More

Atmosphere, food and service were phenomenal, a table of about 12 different tabs handled expertly, prices are very competitive!

We were on route back to our accommodation when the kids decided that they wanted to River Tube, so we stopped at the Old Hatchery. What a lovely venue with great food. Service was a bit on the slow side, but then again you are...More

A fascinating building over the river food is worth the drive and the place has lots of charm. The terraces have wonderful views.

This place is well worth the trip out of town if you are looking for a good old fashioned meal with no frills attached - other than the great view. The place was busy, but we did manage to secure a table outside, for which...More

Maybe it was because it was the 1st but the service was slow and largely disinterested and the food was pretty average. Fettuccini was overcooked and I have never had pasta served over mixed veg - probably won't again either. If you do decide to...More

Dear sacit I'm so sorry you were disappointed. We had a few staff related issues to deal with and I'm truly sorry that it affected your experience here. Our Polo Pizza on Pasta is indeed a very unique dish that has FRESH vegetables (carrots &...More

We arrived for lunch on 29 December 2016 on a cool and overcast day looking for a warm lunch. We scanned the menu and settled on a lamb curry only to be told that this was not available, neither was the Eisbein or Lamb shanks,...More

Dear GladystheCamel Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry for the lack of some items on our menu. Being in an outlying area we rely on companies to deliver their goods to us on a weekly basis. Normal delivery day is Wednesday but with...More

Great food and friendly service for a group of hungry hikers. We arrived after closing time after a hike in the Berg. We were welcomed and they served us very good food.

Our lovely thatch rondavel restaurant has a country feel with a panoramic view over the waterfall that flows into our trout dam. Our signature dishes include the Fillet Ripini and Pollo Pizza on Pasta with our very own home made pasta. We also serve Rainbow Trout. Although some of our dishes have an Italian influence we also have some South African favourites like oxtail, lamb shank and of course steaks. We also have fish and vegetarian options.
