We tried this after reading the reviews.I had the best fettucine pescatore ever. The staff are friendly and efficient. The tables are close together which makes for a very congenial atmosphere. We chatted to people at neighbouring tables. All great fun and highly recommended. We'll be back to try out more dishes.

If you're keen for fantastic food and a quiet night out, this is the place. A small, intimate and lovely family restaurant. It's small, so you might have to wait to be seated - but do, because it's worth it!

We recently found Trattoria Renato when we were invited there with friends for lunch. We had an absolutely delightful meal!! One of the best Italian meals we've had in Jo'burg, for sure! In fact we enjoyed it so much, we went back the next weekend for lunch. Don't look for a fancy decor and atmosphere, but that is way overshadowed... More

Renato's was recommended by friends who have been going there for over 15 years. Excellent Italian food, good service, small and cosy atmosphere. Have now been there 6 times in the last few months - tried a number of dishes and never disappointed!

We were looking for something new for a Sunday lunch . After a quick search we found this . The food , service and set up was all great . The prices were very reasonable a typical restaurant for the surrounding areas close by . Highly recommended this place

I have been eating here for years. The pizza by Mario is excellent. I think it is the best Italian food in Joburg. The tables are very close together if you are dining in but I think that goes to the intimacy of the restaurant.

This is one of our family's favorite places to eat in Johannesburg, and it is as consistent and good as it has always been. I never even bother to go beyond the pizza (Sicilian-style, with lots of anchovies), and the same holds for the others: Pepperoni for the grandchildren, usually. You will not be disappointed. This is Italian cuisine at... More

My go-to choice for honest Italian fare in Johannesburg. Get there early though as tables fill up (mostly with locals) soon after the 6pm opening time for dinner service. The ravioli arrabiata is a winner.

Everybody has a favourite little Italian restaurant. This is mine. It's been around for years, but I've only been dining there for the past 5. A tiny little place with a wood-fired oven, with unsophisticated decor and a limited menu - but the food that comes out of that kitchen is just brilliant every single time. Authentic, unfussy, quality ingredients... More
