I had never been to El Toreo, even at it's old spot, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Everyone raves about their Sunday buffet so I decided to try them for dinner. We sat in the bar area and have to admit that I...am so glad we did. I don't think we would have had as good of an experience if we chose a booth to sit in. The reason why is the BARTENDER! Not only did he make me one of the best Mexican Mules I've ever drank, he also spent time with us, showing us pictures of the work done to the restaurant and sharing the history of the restaurant with us. He made us feel like we were family so just for that alone, we loved it there and will be back. I ordered the Enchilada Suiza and was impressed. It was one of the best suizas I have had in a long time. It was deliciously paired with sweet corn and beans. Overall, because I didn't know what to expect, I was pleasantly impressed with the overall food and atmosphere .More

One of us had the brunch the other had an a la carte chimi without rice, beans or cheese inside. I asked if the chimi had been frozen. The waitress said "no." It sure looked it. The chicken was pink/red and was about as big...as a deck of cards. The guacamole was good. They upcharged ($6.75) and extra dollar from the price on the menu ($5.75.) The menudo was all watery broth and too much raw onion. Bean & rice were OK. Chorizo with eggs was good. Cheese enchiladas were terrible. One doesn't help oneself to the entrees..staff dishes out each serving. Champagne was never offered. Now, eight hours later the meal still has not digested. Won't go there again and we're locals. Waited over 10 minutes to give our order, then waitress went to wait on other tables where she knew people without first giving order to kitchen.More

I think that was the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. What a waste of a $100. Service is about as bad as it gets. The margaritas served in a 12 ounce ice tea glass for $12.50.

We’ve eaten at El Toreo many times at their old location but yesterday was our first visit to the new one. The service was very slow even though they weren’t that busy and there seemed to be plenty of people working there. We were seated...promptly and the girl took our drink order but it took quite awhile for her to return with the drinks, considering we only had water. It took 25 minutes for another person to take our food order and nearly another half hour before we got food. About 10 minutes before the food arrived, another person brought our check to the table. I just looked at her and she said, “Oh, you didn’t eat yet?” I told her they hadn’t brought us food. Once the food arrived, it was very good. But then, once we finished, we had to wait for our check again. The same waitress who took our order finally brought it and we noticed there was an overcharge. Took it to the cashier to pay and she fixed it but, all in all, the wait was just too long. The prompt service was one of the things I liked about the old place so I’m not sure what happened or if we’ll be back. My husband said if we’d had to wait 5 more minutes, he would’ve gotten up and left. I feel like over an hour is just too long too wait for food!More

The restaurant was very clean and the service was excellent. However, we are vegetarians and when we asked if their refried beans were done with lard, we were told everything there is made with lard. This was a huge disappointment to us. If they would...prepare their food in a healthier manner, even if that means they cook with vegetable lard, we would go there more often. What we did order was very good.More

The food here is good, not great but for the price it is somewhere we go fairly often. They have a full bar as well. Staff is always attentive and service is good and quick. A definable possibility when you are thinking Mexican

This restaurant is now in Clarkdale. My wife and I ate here about a month ago. The place was empty except for us. We were unsure if we should go in or not. We did and the service and food was good. We went back...a little over a week ago and there was about 4 other tables besides us. This is our experience, it took 20 minutes to get someone to our table to place our order. After another 20 minutes i was able to get the attention of a waitress (not ours) since she never came back to our table. I asked where was the soup we ordered 20 minutes ago. It was only then he went into the kitchen and returned with two cups of soup. Is was ice cold and the top of the soup was nothing but grease neither one of us could eat it. It was disgusting! Finally I was about to get the attention our our waitress its now been close to an hour, I asked where our food was. She brought out 2 plates and stated there were very very hot. Well the plates were so hot you could not touch them but our meal, (we both ordered the chili relleno) was still frozen in the middle and was uneatable. I stopped the first waitress i could find since ours was no where to be found again I told her I wanted our bill only for the drinks becasue I refused to pay for any of the food since we could not eat any of it. I want to say the place was not that busy and there is no excuse for this to happen. We both agreed we wont be going back!!!More

I went to have a monthly gathering with a couple of my neighbors . I ordered a Taco-lite salad and an iced tea. The iced tea was ok. The Taco salad, on the other hand, was disappointing - very bland. I told the waitress no...cheese and it came with cheese . As I began to eat this salad I noticed it was mushy and the ground meat had no taste. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice decor; however go through the menu carefully.More

I highly recommend the chimis, and the beans are awesome. And they make a Cadillac margarita properly!! Great stop for a filling lunch or dinner. Don't miss it just because of the location! It's worth keeping your eye out the window to find it!
