Surely Harold's is an institution! Wonderful western saloon - good service, good food, and excellent bands. You can sit outside on the large covered wrap around porch or inside. You can't go wrong with a visit to Harold's.

Weather finally cooperated and we had a great afternoon snack during Happy Hour at Harolds. Not only was the beer cold, the food good, but the beautiful mountains were a perfect background. We had a true bonus....a man on a horse came to the "corral" and left the horse while he enjoyed a cold beverage! Not often you see this!

A friendly hostess sat us right away, great waitress and delicious brisket and steak. Seemed like a lot of locals ate here because they knew the band. Reasonable prices, would recommend you give it a try. Full bar too.

We've eaten here before with indifferent results. Tonight was the worst. To begin, the bbq pork ribs were dry, cold and had no bbq sauce. Even worse was the "certified sirloin" steak. The "10 oz. sirloin" weighed about 6 ounces, was over-cooked, tough as a boot and served cold. Not room temperature....COLD! Both entrees appeared to have sat on the... More

Recall eating at this establishment most recently ~ 10 years ago. Seems the food wasn't quite as good as I remember. Fairly noisy with the openness of the building but people watching is entertaining. Service was good but not anxious to return anytime soon.

Place is cool (and apparently historic); food was mediocre at best and way overpriced for what you get; service was way worse than the food; best thing about the place is that I can say I've been there, that way I won't have to go back again.

Went to Harold's twice while in Cave Creek. The live music was wonderful. The place gets really busy, but a lot of fun. Enjoyed our meals both nights. We sat in the back bar area the second time where it was a little less loud. Service was great.

We went for breakfast and it was nice, so we thought we would sit on the patio. Rustic is one thing, but dirty is another..this place needs a good cleaning. Our food, when it was brought out had been sitting there for a while because the biscuits and gravy I order had a thick skin on top where it had... More

In the 1930s, a man with the unlikely name of Johnny Walker built a bar called the Cave Creek Corral. Walker’s creation was an instant sensation with cowboys, playboys, politicians and laborers who gathered to drink A-1 beers at wooden tables under wanted posters.Harold Gavagan and his wife Ruth bought the Cave Creek Corral in the mid 1950s. Harold was quite a character, a depression-era Irish kid, a tough, but entertaining guy. Harold’s was a favorite movie location for Hollywood, attracting the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Bob Hope, Lynda Carter, Waylon Jennings and Dick Van Dyke. Cave Creek was not a short easy ride from Phoenix, in an effort to get visitors to Cave Creek, Harold acquired a trained lion and tiger act to entertain patrons.Once visitors were at Harold’s, he was concerned that they didn’t drink and stay long enough. So the building to the east of the restaurant became a bunkhouse, renting space for over night visitors.celebrities. Enjoy the fun atmosphere, interesting people and great food every day.
