If you want to try different types of meat, such as bison or elk, this is the perfect dining opportunity. However, there are also options for fish lovers or vegans. The portion sizes, especially offerings of three varieties of steaks are quite large, so sharing is recommended, unless one has a large appetite. The kitchen will happily divide orders, as... More

My husband and I ate here for a romantic dinner. The waitress MaryLou made our evening! She was a wealth of information regarding the dishes served and helped us make some excellent selections. Everything was delicious! Highly recommended.

Go there for the authentic feel of a western ranch house/lodge and a good steak. They also serve gamey dishes, but I'll always pass on that.

Wonderful filet, horrible side of mashed potatoes ravioli...Perhaps the chef was vying for gnocchi like side, but very underwhelming and bland...Dissonant with the excellent steak.

Cartwright's was amazing!!! The food was excellent. The steak was prepared so well and some of the best we have had in a long time. The wait staff was extremely attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant and will return if we are in the Scottsdale area again in the future .

It was a busy night in Cave Creek so we we decided not to wait at two other restaurants. I was with my husband and 17 year old son. Cartwright's had two tables we could push together in the bar area. The menu has a wide variety of choices. They tried an appetizer that was unique and tasty. I had... More

Very good food, but I think it lacks on atmosphere and service. The service lacked and their wasn't really a bar scene but they are trying with happy hours! Other than that, there really isn't much to say. Kinda formal and high class and worth a shot if you want to try something different. A little touristy if anything. Desserts... More

Loved the variety on the menu. Went for the trout - it was exquisite. We did a selection of different appetizers for the table and all were superb. Highly recommended!

Really satisfying dining experience...menu is varied, heavy on meats but with other options as well. I could also make a meal on their appetizers and sides. Service was on the chippy side this time, but that is the first such experience in several visits so will give a pass. Parking is easy and ambiance is upscale western, with prices to... More

The braised Pork Shoulder was as good as it gets. It was not too fatty, and not too sweet, with a lovely flavor punctuated with slices of apple and baby onions. This dish was an A. The ambience was great, and the service was, too. We enjoyed an appetizer portion of the Piergogies and sausage. (the same place the pork... More

Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House honors the spirit of Arizona’s ranching days with rustic yet upscale dining. Located on Saguaro Hill and overlooking Black Mountain and the Sonoran desert foothills, the restaurant’s ambience inside is as captivating as the setting outside. At Cartwright’s Sonoran Ranch House, a hacienda style dining room, enclosed patio and private wine room boast artistic touches such as straw-packed walls, sandstone and slate accents, woodwork from local mesquite, and a wood-burning fireplace in each room. The interior recalls the original ranch house built by Jackson (Manford) Cartwright in the early 1900s. His father, “Red” Cartwright, was a pioneering cattle rancher in Cave Creek in the late 1800s. The family ranch operated for three generations and more than a century, and is still in use today. Chefs continue this tradition with all-natural meats, including Arizona beef, Colorado range-fed lamb, and North American elk and buffalo slow-cooked over a crackling mesquite wood fire. Also enjoy fresh seafood, house-made bread and desserts, a Wine Spectator Award-winning wine list and fine whiskies, bourbons and Scotches. Cartwright’s is available for private events and off-site catering. Reservations are recommended.
