Chicken strips were cold/not fresh. Prices are way too expensive for a quick stop. Husband had to have everything remade. 25.00 for 3 people is nuts for fast food. Keep going either direction for better food.

This review is about the Dairy Queen which is the only place to eat while at The Thing. They have a limited menu and it seems like most of the food is already prepared and all they do is to microwave it warm. I can’t recall them grilling the burgers – though I might be wrong. This is a good... More

This is a nice pit stop if you are on a long drive. They have good snacks and fast food, gas, and souvenirs. As a kid we always wanted to find out what The Thing was.

This place is disgusting. They charge money to see a deceased mother and baby. What is to gain by doing such a disgusting thing.

I've wanted to see this since I was a child travelling on I-10 in the 60's...the trip was boring, but the billboards about the Thing kept us entertained. I took my teenage son and we really enjoyed the museum, and seeing the Thing...it's only one dollar admission!

It MIGHT be an extremely valuable treasure, a mummy recovered from high in the Andes of South America. More likely a paper and glue facsimile thereof. Regardless, do not miss for two dollars. And get a few bumper stickers to show you've been. the signs have spanned hundreds of miles of desert since the mid twentieth century. Its a piece... More

Crappy dusty souvenirs, lots of plastic indian dolls, dirty bathrooms. DQ server was rude - she did not want to be at work that day, poor thing. An ugly nasty truckstop.

We stopped in on a road trip after reading about it online. It is exactly as advertised, a funny cheesy tourist stop. We got a bunch of pictures and a couple funny cheesy souvenirs and it was a fun $1 spent. If you expect what they advertise you won't be disappointed.

It is a road-side tourist trap reminiscent of the old "Freak Shows". Totally worth the money. Which is 2 bucks, so you aren't out anything. The gift shop there is GRRRRREAT! LOTS of souvenirs and unlike most tourist stops, VERY reasonably priced.

We didn't go in to see what the "Thing" was really all about, just stopped for a bathroom break and refreshments.

Location and Contact Information
  • Address: 2631 N Johnson Rd, Benson, AZ 85602
  • Location: United States  >  Arizona (AZ)  >  Benson
  • Phone Number: +1 520-586-2581
It is 17 miles east of Benson and about 40 miles east of Tucson on Interstate 10 (Exit 322). Look around the spacious gift shop and purchase a few gifts, a couple of pieces of Indian Handmade or gold jewelry, some pottery, or one of the many other items available at this location. Do your shopping before you tour the museum and look for The Thing. Because afterwards you will probably want to compose yourself and just sit awhile sipping a cold soda or try to calm your nerves by scarfing up an Ultimate Burger or shoveling down a cold DQ Blizzard at the Dairy Queen located right next door. This location also offers self-serve Shell fuel with 24 hr. Pay at the pump service.
