Outstanding food—the tasting menu and wine course was superb. Atmosphere lovely. Yet... the service was a complete turnoff. When introducing and explaining each course, my waiter chose to be “funny” instead of helpful— he’d say a food was very sweet when it turned out to...be savory, then said haha I lied. He kept joking about whether I was good or bad, as a setup for the devil presentation, why am I having to defend myself if I’m good or bad while treating myself at an upscale lunch? The worse part of the meal was when he described a dish as containing chocolate, and then later quizzed me about what I had already eaten, and then revealed it was blood sausage. Haha, I lied again. I wouldn’t have eaten it had I known. I was not amused. I splurged $150 for a gorgeous meal, only to feel harassed and annoyed by the peculiar style of my waiter who ruined my time. Please stop the jokes and serve the food with integrity.More

Unreal experience. Gotta do the tasting menu. Great wine list. A top 10 restaurant experience in my life. And the prices aren’t bad (compared to my hometown).

We recently dined at Silvestre on the last day of our visit to CR. We ordered the tasting menu with the premium wine parings. Our server did an amazing job of explaining each dish as it related to traditional CR fare. Each dish was artfully...presented and the flavors were amazing. The wines paired perfectly with each serving. Definitely the best meal we had in CR, in fact, one of our most memorable meals ever!More

Slightly disappointed by this restaurant. The ambiance and service were good. The food however was not great. I had the rib eye which was rather fatty. My friend had the lamb that was too garlicky. The Amuse Bouche was not amusing! The octopus as a...starter was good. I had Casava ‘fingers’. They were alright but much too much, and resembled fish fingers.More

We had the lamb role and the minestrone - the best meals we have had in Costa Rica. Excellent food and we will be back. Sandro, our waiter was great at explaining the food and was constantly aware of any of our needs. Thank you...so much.More

Wow! What a fantastic spot for lunch! We are a young couple visiting from London staying just a few nights in San Jose. We wanted to experience some fine dining whilst in town. We found this place on a Trip Advisor and after a short...walk found this hidden gem. We sat in the beautiful courtyard and our excellent waiter Sandro very politely explained the 3 course set lunch menu to us. We actually opted to pick from the main menu. 2 courses; a delicious starter and main was more than enough for us with a few beautifully crafted cocktails to wash it down. Sandro explained each dish and ingredient to us whilst emphasising that all produced is sourced locally. He also recommended some other bars and areas we should visit during our stay - very helpful! We left feeling very full and satisfied. This place is definitely worth a visit, you will not be disappointed!More

We had the 6 course tasting menu and it was very well prepared, traditional costarican food with nice twists and extra, all very flavorful, fresh ingredients, well spiced, each and every course was delicious. The Stories we were told by our attentive and friendly waiter...made it extra interesting. We left full and happy and can only recommend this place and the menu. The only negative in this very nice last evening on our tour through the country were the chairs, not really comfortable.More

We opted for the six course meal with wine pairings, and it was by far the best meal I had in Costa Rica and one of the best of my life in general. The food was great, but what made it exceptional was the story...that the server presented that was behind every dish; explaining why it is unique in Costa Rican culture.More
