We were pottering down the Osa peninsula and decided to stop here for lunch. We ordered "Ensalada Pesardo" which was absolutely delicious and one of the best meals we had in Costa Rica. As we left, we saw a sloth in a tree in front of the restaurant and spent the next hour watching it move slowly in the tree.

We went to eat at Buena Esperanza on a Friday evening, expecting to hear the band. Unfortunately no music that night, despite the crowd of tourists, 2 days before Christmas. The food was good, but Martina is a very mean person, very rude and you do not deserve to be insulted by a woman, just because you are an American... More

Me and my husband had lunch there. The menu had only a few options for a super expensive prince. Tourists from around the world could think that it was fair, but we live in Costa Rica and we know the general prices for food, and I can say that what we ordered was worth half of what we paid, but... We were excited to go to Martina's for dinner during our stay in this area - after all, it was touted as being "World Famous" When we arrived, we were told we couldn't order food until 6:00 pm, although it wasn't posted anywhere - maybe we missed that important fact? So we waited until 6:00 to order from the menu,... More

We ate here on a Wednesday night. We arrived after dark and were the only ones there, so had a very peaceful dinner. The vibe is very arty and cute, lots of lights and seating areas. I'm sure it would be very fun when filled with people. Service was friendly and fast. 3 of us are vegetarians, so we all... More

Our family stayed in a nearby rental in Cabo Matapalo for a week this March. We walked the 20 minutes to Buena Esperanza on several occasions for smoothies and then on Friday evening when they have a local artisan market and stayed for dinner. The décor is super fun and the ambiance is tropical and laid-back. The smoothies were incredible... More

Another visit to Martina's and Martina even joined us. Great food, Great Drinks, Great Place. The tuna was prepared perfectly and enjoyed by all. The local surfers dropped by for a beverage and a bite to eat. Always fun!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED Martina's. I was staying in the surrounding area and visited this bar/restaurant for 3 nights out of the 5 I was in the area. The tuna steak meal is divine, so is the Mahi mahi. So fresh and delicious. Cooked to perfection. It is what bought me back every time. The ambience is great. Nice and chilled. A... More

Buena Esperanza is one of a kind bar and restaurant. Its a great stop on your way to Carate or when you visit the Osa. Firday nights are mostly packed and a DJ is playing music for a good mix of locals and visitors from the surrounding lodges and houses. Great food and cold drinks. Just an easy place Food... More

This is the perfect spot to grab a beer and watch the local scene. Everyone meets at Martina's. No visit to the Osa is complete without at least one Friday night at this landmark by the sea.
