Being a lover of sushi and after reading the reviews here on TA, we came here for a business lunch. The pure sushi was just OK, but some of the rolls were very good. The service was attentive and very good.

Having eaten at Haiku on a previous visit to Shanghai we headed back there on a recent visit to Shanghai and were not disappointed. Haiku was still one of the best restaurants we visited, great really fresh food, very friendly helpful staff, and pleasant surroundings. They have the best sushi it's a must go to restaurant.

I love Haiku! As someone with a finned fish allergy, sushi is tricky - especially with a language barrier. I went here for a date and the staff was very accommodating and spoke great English which made all my weird requests easy to communicate. I LOVE the Princess Li roll which is crab, shrimp and tempura flakes and the avo... More

After returning from Japan, we were a little dubious about Chinese sushi... But this restaurant is so refined and the fish is so fresh. Amazing! A definite place to visit if you are visiting Shanghai, for residents also for a lovely date night. Their sashimi, wow.

Some of the best sushi I've tried. Order the Moto-roll-a and the Philadelphia both were great. Also thw sashimi melted in my mouth, order the sake. I wanted to try the Toro but they were out of it, im sure it's amazing. Also the service was impeccable. Everyone was so nice!

If you like rolls, sushi, sashimi not very sophisticated and very very tasty, this is the place! They have a big assortment of rolls and I would say they are a bit "westernized" so is good for all ages and tastes. We enjoyed it!

Yum, yum, yum is all I can say. The rolls were delicious and so were all the appetizers we tried as well. The fried calamari is the best I've had. The fruit display that they brought out looked beautiful and was very tasty. So many options for everyone!

This is the best sushi place I have ever been to (US included). The rolls are very large and they have many many options. If you enjoy sushi rolls this is your place! I will continue to come here at least once a month, but probably more. It took us a while to find the place as its hidden, it's... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
