Great little place with good food, service and ambiance. It can get crowded but the food is good! Recommend the tomato soup as it is so fresh and the pasta is cooked perfectly!

Good service, decent food and very nice little garden with tables and chairs. Really good place to get off Anfu lu on a crowded day.

Warm, friendly and/or romantic setting. Impressive wine list and menu for a small restaurant. Menu features different dishes, so there is something for everyone. Would recommend to anyone looking for a dining experience to remember and to be repeated.

Nice quiet place to have a good meal. Had the sea bass and the chicken. Both very good. Server was very friendly and attentive. Will go again

Nice gem on AnfuLu, specially the interior. Makes me always feel like being back in Europe and the service levels are just great. The Seafood rissoto which I tried several times is not always very consitent in its cooking level, but the taste levels are fine. Good, solid wine menu and again, the enviornment make this place a wonderful place... More

Realised they have two listings. We had not been here since late 2014 so decided to have dinner here as we were in the neighbourhood. It's still an intimate place, though they have done a bit of remodelling since our last visit, especially at the entry way. It was dimly lit, perhaps too dimly as we could barely see the... More

A great little place to enjoy lunch or dinner. Entrance up an alleyway on Anfu Lu it comes a a surprise when you enter. Great lunchtime offer of 98RMB ( £10). This is a choice of starter and main with soft drink or coffee. Excellent value and good selection of choices. As well as the usual pastas there is chicken... More

I have been there twice now, and i liked both their pasta as well as their steak. The wine prices are not exactly cheap, but also not painfully expensive. We liked best that it is a small place, probably less than 30 seats, and the combination of food and service was quite good.

A lovely small restaurant in our neighborhood. Had a late lazy Sunday afternoon lunch which we enjoyed a lot. The restaurant is very small and intimate, good service and great food.

My wife and I have dropped in here around three times in the few months. They have a lovely garden at the back, and it's good to sit there in the spring. We usually go for the tiger prawns pasta, though the prawns can vary in size each time. They also have pizzas that are not too bad. Prices are... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
