And in all places China. Went here based on recommendation from Michelin as Bib, and what a gem. Ordered 5 dishes to share amongst 4 adults and two kids. An amasing night not at least the reasonable price level. Very child friendly as we brought a 2 year old. Must make a note... it was difficult getting a taxi back... More

Went for lunch at this Thai restaurant in the middle of the French Concession. We choose the lunch for RMB88,. You can chose 3 small dishes out of a list of at least 12 different dishes. The drinks were half price for lunch. The food is absolutely amazing, very good! We love the FFC and the setting of this very... More

Great place & location, fab food, definetely our favourite Thai place in Shanghai. Until recently, when we were very disappointed during our latest lunch visit. For whatever reason there is no free water anymore, you have to pay 30 or 68 RMB! And that on a hot summer day. At a Thai restaurant (some dishes spicy?). Strangely - after we... More

Oh dear, went to this place previously and enjoyed, this time it felt a bit sad. The wait staff don't seem comfortable in their skin, making customers feel uncomfortable. We asked for a glass of water, the waiter asked if I wanted flat or sparkling. In restaurant speak, this usually means bottled water so I repeated that I just wanted... More

Lunch hotspot perfectly located in one of my favourite streets in French Concession. Quick & good value lunch set menu, £8 3 dishes & tea. Really fast, well cooked and tasty. Another great venue from Wagas group.

I really left this place feeling ripped off and a bit bothered by everything. I'm going to go through an honest list of everything to provide accurate feedback of my experience: The Good- 1) The interior was very well done, which made for a nice atmosphere during the meal. 2) The wait/host staff was friendly. The Bad- 1) We tried... More

This resturant is not a real thai restaurant, however food is quite good. I would say is a fusion with western food. We ate papaya salad, satay and a delicious salty snapper. For aure i will repeat and next time i will enjoy eating it. Envoronment is also nice, however i was missing some thai dishes. As overall is very... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
