I used to come here for a drink and pizza, the crab tagliatelli is also very good, but sometime portions are a little too small, so I prefer pizza. The wine list is very well organized and it is very nice to stay at the terrance and having a drink. I came with friends, alone and with family. I reccomand... More

I ate better Italians but after ten days in China eating only Chinese food, I really appreciated my pizza. It could have had a little bit more tomato sauce but it was good. The restaurant itself is very nice, with romantic atmosphere. Staff is ok, but it could be good to find somebody who speaks English...

I ate here with a group of friends and we were all pleased with the food and service. The pizzas here are very good and the food is fresh. Good wine selection too. Reasonable prices and nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

Buffet of antipasti at lunch time has a good selection of good quality italian classics. Pizza is great with very thin crust. Nice house wine by the glass. Atmosphere is very italian considering the place is in China... Will go back.

Went to Dolce Vita with a friend to have dinner. My friend ordered Fish Carpaccio that finally the restaurant could not serve...obviously did not have the fish. I ordered Cod Fish and the waiter came back to me to let me know that the waiting time would be 30 minutes...time to defreeze the fish. I maintained my order, but the... More

I visit Shanghai only about 1-2 times a year, we wanted to have Italian, I researched a lot of restaurants in tripadvisor including the kitchen by Salvatore Cuomo where I've eaten 3x before. I wanted to try a new one here in puxi area and my brother in law recommended Dolce Vita. I read most reviews which were positive and... More

The restaurant owners are Chinese (from Wenzhou) that have lived in Italy for more than 10 years. They have done what it is necessary to do to let you feel in Italy, but seating in Shanghai. The biggest surprise is to discover that the Italian chef spends most of his time in the kitchen and you do not see him... More

Dolce Vita is nice surpise. Real Italian food that differs from the touristy version of what certain restaurants outside of Italy think is Italian food. We had an excellent selection of raw seafood selection, carpaccio and antipasti followed by nice pasta and fish and lobster. Small but fine wine list. Good service and the location in the buzzing heart of... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
