We visited Cool Docks and found it to be a nice attraction, lots of different restaurants to choose from, its still under construction in some areas although this didn't affect our visit

The Cool Docks is in the Bund area with a selection of eateries and bars around a fountain. It is a nice to place to take the time to relax and have a meal but not much activity or traffic at the times we were there. There is a further stretch adjacent to the harbor where there were bars but... More

It was a bit secluded but i didn't mind it. It was nice to leave the weekend crowds walking on the Bund and have a nice dinner. My friend and I at some Thai place there, incredible food! I forgot the name but it is the one closest to the river. There is a variety of other restaurants as well... More

Cool Docks is really a amazing place. Built around a large water body (artificial) with restaurants all around, small streets giving ambiance of European towns. You really feel so relaxed as atmosphere is very very calm. A must visit whenever you are in Shanghai.

We went to visit Cool Docks 1 to eat at The Kebab on the Grill, recommended by a friend. It was on a bit of a wim, and we were lacking preparation, which only took the form an address sent by text. After a sweaty taxi drive and muddled conversation with the Taxi Driver, we were dropped on a random corner... More

An effort was made to create a second Xintiandi at the South Bund. The problem with this and XIntiandi is, it is not organically grown, it is just some bureaucrats putting it there. As a consequence, it has a thoroughly artificial, sterile, synthetic atmosphere. The busiest place is Starbucks... Numerous restaurants came, made a good effort and left again. Long... More

New pedestrian area close to the Shiliupu area at the south end of Bund. Slightly isolated and therefore has not picked up crowds as fast as expected. Worth a visit for lunch or dinner, and there are plenty of choices for both. Also check out the only outdoor beach in Shanghai located juts outside the Docks. Swimming might not be... More

The Cool Docks is an area full of Restaurants, Cafes and some shopping boutiques. Aside from that, it has a good view and great ambiance. Its a nice place to hang out with friends - for dining and bonding. Or your office colleagues for your meetings and breaks. Whether for lunch or dinner, the area is such a wonderful dining... More

Staying in South Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
South Bund
This waterfront area below the most famous section of the Huangpu River has undergone multiple phases of development that started when the Waterhouse Hotel opened its doors. Though it’s been slower to catch on than people expected, every year something new and exciting opens up and gives people a reason to keep calling the South Bund the "Next Big Thing." There are a couple of landmark hotels and restaurants of excellent quality that serve as anchors, and multiple annual events such as beer festivals, art and fashion fairs and music shows take advantage of the wide spaces, waterfront location and the tiny man-made beach to host huge crowds of people. Wandering about the newness, one can stumble upon authentic Chinese life in the stone gates of people’s residences or the street markets.
