Well, heard a lot about this place and as I was staying at the Bund, I hunted it down. It's a small restaurant with very limited seating and certainly looked "authentic" and "the real thing". Wel, looks are often deceiving and it was on this...More

This steamed, soup-filled xioalongbao is, perhaps, the dumpling world’s favourite son. Jia Jia Tang Bao is the place to go if you’re into this Shanghai speciality, otherwise known as a soup dumpling… a basket of steamed bite-size pouches of goodness usually filled with pork and...More

Beside the queue that sometimes I came across, the dumplings are very nice. We eat inside few times and also the service was pretty good. Friendly environment. Must go/taste.

This may have been the beat place that I ate in my month in China-seriously. It's a hole-in-the-wall place that's extremely popular with Shanghais and Westerners; sometimes the line snakes down the street and the wait times exceed an hour. I went there on a...More

This place is not well-marked, so just look for #90. Chances are, you will see the line of people waiting to get in. It is tiny, maybe 12 tables. Menu is in Chinese and is posted outside. When it is your turn, you will have...More

Just go across the street to Yang's for much better dumplings. I guess seaweed soup is just not my thing, followed by very fishy dumplings. A disappointment after experiencing Yang's the night before.

Arrived at round 10am and the lady at the front door said that they only had pork, crabmeat, pork and crabmeat or maybe pork and shrimp dumplings. No mention of the famous soup dumplings. We ordered a set of each type and some seaweed and...More

Foreign cards are usually no good in local restaurants. Do carry some cash with you if you intend to go 'local'. :)
