Stopped by this local favorite for breakfast following my daughter's orthodontist appointment! We each had an omelette this visit ! Servers are always friendly and the wait is never long once you get a table 😉! Can't ever go wrong with a cheeseburger at City Cafe! Locals definitely know a good place to eat and City Cafe is just that!

Cheap and good Southern food. You will leave stuffed but you may have a wait for a table. Another U of A student favorite. They close around 2 so go early.

Great place to eat. We found it by mistake. Good find. The small town atmosphere makes this place special. Love it when peach cobbler is considered a vegetable. The fried chicken fillet, mac and cheese and fried okra was my favorite. Cornbread was delicious. Our rolls were never touched. Carrot cake was also on the menu. We arrived at lunchtime... More

Lines had thinned out when I arrived jut before 3. They stop taking orders at 3:30pm. Had their stew and it was full of tender beef and flavorful with potato, carrots, and onion. I also had their mac&cheese that was hardy and cheese filled. The fried okra was slightly greasy but had crunch. Stuffed eggs were bland and not flavorful.... More

My wife and I very much enjoyed lunch at the City Cafe. We felt like we were stepping back in time. A great meat and three restaurant with tasty food, friendly servers and great prices. If you are in Tuscaloosa or Northport, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 4:30 AM and 3:30 PM, you must go there for some... More

People have been going to City Café for as long as I can remember. Great breakfast menu and incredible home cooked lunch and dinner items. Locals have packed this restaurant for decades. A must place to eat while in Northport/Tuscaloosa

Whew, this must be the only place to eat in town. Opens at 4 am for breakfast & continues thru lunch @ 3:30. Mostly booths throughout the restaurant and daily specials of meat and vegetables. The prices are low and it was good and fast in the quaint town of Northport across the Black Warrior River from Tuscaloosa. Doesn't take... More

City Cafe is a staple of this college town. You can get a meat and four vegetables for about $5. It is economical but very good. You'll see a mix of college students and locals everyday. One of my favorite places to eat - just good home cooking!! Meats and vegetables rotate daily. Note: It is open for breakfast and... More
