My family decide to eat at the Irondale Cafe for Thanksgiving this year. When we arrived, there was a long line waiting to get into the restaurant. They had a tradition Thanksgiving meal. The restaurant charged $19.00 for a meat, 3 vegetables, drink and dessert that is included for the meal. The price was affordable. The food was really good.... More

Great food, impeccably friendly service and neat atmosphere. A must see in Irondale. Cafeteria style - don't wait to be seated. Just proceed to the counter and tell them what you want! A great waitress will not let your drink go empty.

A seasonal B'ham resident recommended this restaurant as a local favorite off I-20. When I get fried chicken, I take the skin off simply because I don't care for it & losing all of the good crust. No need to here; skin is off & it is perfectly seasoned and cooked to tender perfection just like my mother used to... More

I have known about Irondale Cafe for years, but never had an opportunity to visit. On Sunday I was in area at lunch and decided to try them. When I got there it was moderately crowded but by the time I left; the line was out the door! The food is served cafeteria style. It is the down home food... More

Actually ate there twice in one day - had lunch then went back for dinner. Home cooking like you wished your mother made! Chicken livers to die for!

Ordered the chicken fingers, Mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes with coconut pie. It was all very good and in fact filling and still took some home. Ambience like a buffet. Servers mildly friendly. Bill- more than what we expected. Two people eating over thirty dollars. We will probably be back one more time, but we do feel we were... More

I went to lunch with a colleague and it is still good. A bit on the expensive side unless you pay cash, but worth it. Good southern cooking and the best fried chicken livers and fried green tomatoes in town.

If you are looking for a place for country cooking this is the place. They have a large selection of meat and vegetables and also desserts. Never had a bad meal here. Always friendly staff. My favorite is the fried green tomatoes.

If you want true southern food, this is the place! It is cafeteria style with southern specialty choices served everyday. From carrot salad to fried catfish, turnip greens, cornbread, and banana pudding. What else could anyone want!
