I wrote a review yesterday of a restaurant and called it inconsistent. Top O The RIver is just the opposite. They are always consistent. We’ve eaten in Guntersville, Gadsden and Anniston on too many occasions over the years to count. Not one time have we...ever been dissatisfied. The food is, as one reviewer has already said, consistently good. The person who said the cole slaw and corn brea were mediocre must know a really fabulous cook somewhere because we have always loved the corn bread and cole slaw. Our 91 year old aunt was a great cook and she is somewhat picky. She loves the corn bread, cole slaw and mustard greens.More

Meal was great! Price was great for the amount of food you get! Service was great. There is a beautiful view of the river from the restaurant. The food is fabulous.

The seafood here is amazing. We were lucky and didn't have to wait on a Friday night, but there was only 2 of us. Wait staff friendly, attentive and pleasing. The menu is not huge if you have never been, but what they do have...is perfection. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. It comes with a spicy mustard sauce that I liked, but hubby wasn't too crazy about it. You also get a ranch dressing, for all you ranchers. We ordered the seafood platter, and it was huge ! Could not finish it. Everything was cooked perfectly, and was hot and fresh when it arrived at our table. Always a go to when in the area !More

Not a lot of variety. My group had the catfish (house specialty) and the imitation crab dinners. The cole slaw and corn bread were very mediocre. The catfish was lightly breaded, and not fishy or muddy. Neither of us could eat the hush puppies. Everything...else was quite mediocre, in our opinion. We took dessert to go. It was the bright spot of the night. Quite good.More

We had never been to Guntersville, but so many people recommended Top O' The River that we decided to try it. It's an enormous place, and we were served quickly and efficiently, but the food did not meet our expectations. I had shrimp and chicken...kabobs. The chicken was pretty good, but the shrimp was cold and did not taste fresh. Everyone else in the group got a version of catfish. My sister's and my husband's were overcooked and mushy (didn't taste my brother in-law's, but he said it was pretty good - he is a Yankee though, and we don't always trust his opinion! Ha ha!). We all thought the hushpuppies were average. Three of us enjoyed the pickled onions, but we didn't get very much of them. I imagine the view is beautiful, but since we went at night, we weren't able to see anything but blackness. After all the hype, we were disappointed.More

We had the shrimp scampi, greens, slaw, cornbread and hush puppies which were very good. The service was very good also. Would be interested to try the catfish next time.

We were there today for lunch. The server was nice and was quick. Two of us ordered Gulf Shrimp and one ordered catfish and popcorn shrimp. We also ordered onion rings as an appetizer. The onion rings were great. The slaw and cornbread were ok....But, when we got our meals, I had 7 shrimp on my plate and my friend had 10. I don’t know what the norm is. I ate two of my shrimp and could not stomach another. My first one was gritty and the second one was too tough to chew. Our friend ate two of hers and said that they tasted old and too chewy. We told the waiter and he apologized. He did not offer to get is something else. We did not eat anything else except two hush puppies. Our other friend liked his fish and popcorn shrimp. He then charges us for all we ordered. I truly do not complain about food but this was a $16 shrimp plate that was not edible. When we asked why we had to pay for something that was still on the table and not touched he said he could take off maybe one. We are new to the area but won’t be back. Also, please have the crew deep clean the restaurant. The walls need cleaning as does the exit area out to the top deck.More

Enjoyed a pleasant early dinner at this well known local restaurant. We were seated promptly. The staff was conscious of the social distancing rules and extremely friendly. The menu is mainly fried items which are delicious! However for those of us who enjoy a salad...this isn’t the place. Just splurge and dive in to the yummy hush puppies, fried dill pickles and onion rings! We would definitely visit again.More

On Father's Day I took my parents to this restaurant. We had the absolute worst server I have ever had. Her hame is Brittany, she has no personality whatsoever, cannot smile nor can she carry on a conversation with her table. Brittany's lack of knowledge...of the menu and how the food is prepared was unimpressive. Her manner was stiff and unfriendly. The food itself was fine. I wouldn't go back for seconds on any of it. Mom and I ordered a combo dinner. Our portions came out in burnt dishes the food was cooked in. The dishes were caked with baked on grease. The presentation of the meals was AWFUL. Instead of transferring the food into clean dishes they left them in what they were cooked in. I don't even do that at home. The atmosphere was positively banal. The impression given off was to get people in and out of the restaurant as fast as possible with as little care and interaction as can be given. Not one single employee there smiled, wished my dad a Happy Father's Day or greeted us warmly at all. Skip this restaurant unless you just don't care what you eat, how it looks and how you are treated. It is a 2 on a scale to 10.More

Yes, but cold, greasy fish is not appetizing to me. If you are in Huntsville, go to Libby's catfish in Priceville.
