From the outside this small restaurant doesn't look like much and to be honest, it doesn't look like much from the inside either! However, the best meal I had in India was in this place. The food was so fresh and deliciously still thinking about it today. Cheap and cheerful authentic Indian coastal food.

If you are looking for a well prepared local seafood dishes in Central Mumbai, then this place will fit the bill perfectly. I have been going to this since early days, when they did not have the air conditioned section. They have improved their service however the quality has been maintained. I recommend this place if you are fond of seafood. I have eaten their surmai fry, Mangalorean fish curry and I have enjoyed it. The service is quick and prompt. It is a perfect place to go with family, friends or business colleagues. In case you have a big group, it may be advisable to book a table in advance.

Going by the crowds that throng this place, you feel like you'll never get to step inside but the highly efficient guy at the entrance somehow manages to see you through with amazing regularity. And once you are in, a treat is assured. Pompfret curry, fried prawns, neer dosa, rice and sol kadhi - heavenly stuff. Neer dosa is simply... More

Jai Hind is a wonderful place mainly for seafood and cooked in the Mangalorean style of preparation and eaten best with neer dosas or appams or rice bhakris. They serve lovely stuffed bombils which is Bombay duck fish stuffed with prawns inside it and fried in a crispy batter. Just yummy!!! The other fish like surmai, rawas, pomfret, squids, prawns,...
