Lovely place: the lady got up early to make banana roti and tea for us before the 6.30 am bus and made sure we got a seat too. We had to jump on so fast we couldn't even thank her properly so if you read this and go there please mention us !!

Chuti (also called Chooti on the menu) is in the heart of town: it's owned by a husband/wife team and there's a great selection of local dishes available - I had a very tasty chicken curry with side dishes of potato and onion, dahl, dambulla (a long stringy green bean, rice and chutney: tables are covered with checked table-cloths, a... It doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is well worth ignoring the decor for. For once you are asked if you want the food spicy or not. Don't have spicy because it is hot enough, and you are given a bowl of lethal red sauce if you want to really go for it. The Kotthu is... More

Visited for lunch and the restaurant was fairly busy, service was slow at best. Nice family and children were helping out with the order and serving. Probably the better of the 3 we visited in Sigiriya but wouldn't survive if there was any real competition. The place attracts passers-by who have been to the rock or happen to be passing... More

We stopped for lunch, in the shade under the parasols outside. good portions very tasty local style curry, friendly staff, mixed crowd of locals and foreigners very reasonably priced, does not serve beer which would have got it 5 stars if it did ut it appeared that not many of the restaurants do which seemed odd!

We ventured here because of lonely planet, we were expecting something a little more upmarket but it was actually perfect, sat outside near the road, had kutta roti chicken and par rata and chicken curry, both were excellent and very cheap. The owner talked us into trying her fresh mango juice which was the best I had in Sri Lanka.... More

Went here because of lonely planet, they have over 8 resturaunts and lp only lists one?? It is now the most expensive place in town to eat (typical price jack up after publication) Only reason they get 80% of the buisness is bc of LP. Curry was ok, juices were ok. The other joints in town have much taistier curries.... More

Arrived at 6:30 pm after a long and tiring day climbing Sigiriya, so had built up quite an appetite. We ordered 3 milkshakes, 2 chicken curries (one with paratha, one with roti) and an avocado salad, and 2 samosas from the stall inside the shop. Sri Lankan food is notoriously slow to prepare, so after an hour of waiting, we... More
