Great experience! The food was delicious and well prepared. We tried the shrimp ceviche, fried octopus and baked sea bass. I'd recommend this to anyone who isn't traveling on a budget, and is looking for a nice dinner with excellent service. The owner even came over to chat with us after the meal, just a wonderful establishment.

The food was OK, but nothing special and seemed overpriced to me. Like most restaurants in Guayaquil the wine menu is sparce and overpriced. The ceviche was tepid and the main course so forgetable that I can´t remember what I had. Only one other table was occupied, seemingly by friends or family of the owner, and the maitre d´ hovered... went for dinner. service sort of "slap happy" & definitely not smooth or professional. Out of swordfish, which is why I went. My sea bass was dried out. Ordered some fries-never arrived to eat with the fish! Very expensive & the slow (or non existent) service is painful. No A/C-a rolling cooler is either too hot or cold. Would never... More

Some fellow friends an co-workers of mine decided to have a celebratory last dinner together before leaving Guayaquil and going our separate ways. We chose Caracacol Azul or Blue Snail for those of you who are non-Spanish speakers. We all tried different dishes and shared tastes of them all. I started off with an appetizer of small shrimps with guacamole.... More

Honestly speaking, I don't get why this place is on a list of recommended restaurants, even less within the top 10! The place is old, smelly and poorly kept. Service is extremely slow and even though food is just OK, it is extremely overpriced!!! Getting our check took forever and had to send it back twice due to extra items... More

I went for a business lunch, after a meeting, and it gave us the perfect environment for a stress free 2 hour lunch!! And the food and desserts were amazing too

We selected Caracol Azul based on the TripAdvisor recommendations and were not disappointed. Several comments indicated it was more expensive than many local restaurants. Coming from the states and very high prices, this was a bargain! Simple meal of salad, rice and a wonderful sea bass entree (which we split as we always do), shared a bottle of wine and... More

This restaurant is very good, the food excellently presented and the service is also good. Prices are too expensive for Ecuador and location. If you travel with lots of money I recommend this place, if your budget is lower, there are many good seafood options in town that will fit your budget. The place is good, the decor too, the... We were staying in a nearby hotel and saw the restaurant while arriving. Checked with the hotelowners and they confirmed it was a great restaurant so we went there in the evening. We weren't disappointed, both service and food were great. I had swordfish and my wife a steak, both were really perfect ! Prices are high to Ecuadorian standards... More

I recently went to Guayaquil for the first time on a business trip sent by my company. At the hotel, my co-worker and I asked for recommendations for the best restaurants in town where we could experience "the flavor" of the Ecuadorian cuisine. We were given three restaurants and one of them was "El Caracol Azul". We went to all... More
