The main reason we came here is because of the setting of the 15th century walled garden and it was lovely. It was very romantic but not very busy (i think this is because we went towards the end of the season). The waiter was polite, charming and funny, if not a little pushy but his humour made up for... As usual we were wandering aimlessly looking for a dinner location. We actually walked past this restaurant and were not interested at first, we then came past it again and ended up giving it a try. It was a great place, the courtyard setting was beautiful, great atmosphere. The food and service were excellent, We had steaks, lobster & squid,... More

Found this place just wandering the little streets above the main harbor. This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the food is first rate. Outdoor and indoor seating, outdoor is in a beautiful little enclosed garden.

We stumbled by accident into this gorgeous place. The atmosphere was so romantic. I had the calamari and I loved it. The portion size was generous. And the service was pleasant. Highly recommended.

Martin (the owner I believe) saw my friends and I looking through the menu outside and he invited us into this charming restaurant We booked for 6 people and we were not disappointed. Fantastic tasting food, attentive staff and reasonably priced. Also, the terraced area is great even in the evening - even with only summer dress on. The building... More

We were in Hvar for one evening and just wanted something like pasta for dinner. We went up a side street and found this restaurant after we were approached by the young man touting for business outside. Were were taken to a garden terrace at the back with beautiful trees and ordered the cuttlefish risotto and Grandma's pasta. Both dishes... More

We have visited this secret garden on a number of previous visits to Hvar town over the past 8 years! The food has always been very good and have never been disappointed. However, we did feel that we were pressurised by our waiter, who was great with his service, but trying to upsell us on everything. The only special he... More

Started great with all staff greeting us, presenting the menu in a professional way. Then we got the food and the pepper sauce tasted like old basement, we obviously complained. After that the staff was no let so friendly, first refused to change the dish, and finally "cleaned" the meat from the sauce. After this they continued to treat us... More

This was the first restaurant we visited while on Hvar. The service and the staff were great, making wonderful suggestions on wine and food. The prices were quite high for what was offered, but this seems to be standard in Hvar. The restaurant itself is tucked away behind the main square and you sit under some wonderful orange trees, which... More

Description
Restaurant Palace Paladini is placed at the old ancient part of City of Hvar. We offer fish delicious, meat and vege specialities, greatest wines and champagnes (Dom Perignon/Rose, Crystal, Moet & Chandon...).The palace where you are about to eat belonged to an old noble family from the Hvar called Paladinic (Paladinis - Italian version; de Paladinis - Latin version).Palace de Paladinis, built in renaissance style, is one of the most beautifull and outstanding Hvar palaces, situated in the southern part of the oldest nucleus of the town Hvar below the fortress known as Forto Spagnuolo. The upper palace Paladini was once the residence of Petar Hectorovic. Coat of arms found above the main entrance to the palace, on the family well erected in the garden, on the renaissance basin on the balcony of the palace and on the balustrade of the balcony bares two motives: a royal lily on the upper field and eagle`s wing of Subic family on the lower field. The present-day form of the palace (ground-floor, three upper floors and a monumental balcony - one of the most beautiful in Dalmatia) was designed by Nikola Paladinic, son of Jakov, who fought very bravely in the seabattle between Venetian and Turkish fleet. After the battle the Republic of Venice proclaimed him the knight of St Marc with golden toga.Palaces of Hvar noblemen clearly evidence of economic prosperity and cultural development of the local families in the 15th and 16th century. Furthermore, rich plebeian families always tried to keep step with noblemen which is quite manifest from their residental palaces (Vukasinovic-de Lupis, Garguric) that equal in their beauty even the most famous of noblemen of the town Hvar (Lucic, Paladini, Hectorovic, Gazarovic, Garguric, Vukasinovic...) where not erected during the period of town`s greatest prosperity, but only after the year 1571 when turks burnt the town and 1579 when lightning struck the ammunition warehouse at the town fortress causing a tremendous catastrophy.
